 | Forum Reply | Sell Jon Varane ? at 10:28 14 Jan 2026
We've definitely seen potential to improve - for example, the goal against Leicester and the Sunderland game last season. However, he has regressed a bit this season. There are games where you want him to be dominating the midfield but he's been ineffectual. Arguably, that's because we've played two in the middle - maybe in a three, he'd have a bit more leeway? He is a funny one - I still think he could be a much more progressive player in the future but can see why we will sell him at his current value. [Post edited 14 Jan 10:28]

Only if they're not as versatile as an egg. [Post edited 14 Jan 10:23]

Honestly, I'm done with football when they're disallowing goals for that. What a farce. |

As with everything in modern football, the rules have changed to benefit the bigger clubs. https://talksport.com/football Sign a £62.5m winger in January and of course he can play in the semi-final. |

Bit disconcerting he doesn't rate Vale as his boss sanctioned his signing. |

Hopefully the club has earmarked a replacement if we do sell. Hayden played well yesterday but he's a short-term fix and I don't think Sam Field is good enough technically to play the way we want to. |

Yes, Kolli really announced himself yesterday. It was a very mature performance. |

Yes, it does feel harsh and he was playing out of position but I can see why Stephan has dropped him. If we're looking to play a more technical style, his touch is just not good enough a lot of the time. If we do sell Varane, I presume he'll get some more game time this season but I reckon he'll be gone in the summer. On the positive side, it was great to see Walsh play so well - that position might not be such an issue going forward. So that leaves the full back positions and that mythical box-to-box midfielder and then we will have a very decent side. |

The human traffic lights were particularly memorable. |

Yes, we effectively drew with a Premier League team. See you next season, lads. Without sounding too much like those online guys who hate Field, but I do think we should sell him. If RND stays on, I think we take it to penalties. He nearly cost us a goal with some appalling play, then it's his man who scores the winner. Harsh maybe but he looked far more like a couple of levels below them, whereas the likes of Kolli looked at home. |
 | Forum Reply | Ronnie returns, but is it the handsome deal QPR hope? – Signing at 22:23 9 Jan 2026
Fantastic signing. I get the comparison with Saito but Ronnie is an automatic starter, can play in several positions and clearly Cook and JC-S won't be here next season. We should cash in on Varane this window and start thinking about those problem positions - goalkeeper, both full backs and a box-to-box midfielder - for next season. |

St Etienne are fourth in Ligue 2, so makes sense that they're looking to bolster their squad. Join our club. [Post edited 9 Jan 17:46]

Not sure why that wasn't reviewed? He chucked the ball at him then tried to push him off the pitch. Arteta's Arsenal really are difficult to warm to. |

I agree that Poku and his repeated hamstring injury is a real worry. I just hope that JC-S doesn't have an extension clause as his body is just not suited to a professional athlete unfortunately. We need Chair back ASAP. |

I'm not defending them but it's more down to the FA and what they've done to the competition by scrapping replays to appease the big clubs. It's hardly then surprising, when having cultivated such a culture, that the likes of the UAE do this. |
