Didn't watch the game, but will do soon on DAZN. From comments on here and X it sounds like we set off with real intent, against a decent attacking team in Hartlepool but we overpowered them in the end. Great to hear that we played some really entertaining stuff throughout. Well done everyone concerned.
Brilliant to see Bird back on the pitch, and it will give the whole place a confidence boost.

Today was a microcosm of our season. The players are sent out with fear and told to be cautious at all times. The result is a boring game where the opposition gain a degree of confidence against our all too predictable play. It won't ever increase the fanbase.

Poor first half against a team who offered almost nothing for 30 minutes but then had the games best chance. I'm afraid that Mitchell just isn't currently capable of playing first team football. Sadly, he weakens us as an attacking force. Will Jim see it or keep him on?
Big second half coming up..for the players and supporters alike.

Pretty much echoes my view of the game. We really should have been out of sight before they equalised. After that, they had us under the cosh...especially down the wings which had been almost no go areas for them in the first half.
I'm absolutely delighted that we won, but just wish we could have scored a second goal that our play in the first hour deserved. |

Deservedly ahead at the break with a well struck shot by Beckwith from about 25 yards.
Shame our second goal was ruled out for offside...thought they'd given it at first.
Let's keep positive and hopefully get a second. |

Just watching on catch up via DAZN. We look a class about Eastleigh and also much more attack minded than recently.
Other results went well for us . A good day to be a Dale fan. Big game again on Friday. Let's approach it to try and win it .

Splendid post. I just don't think Jim knows what he's doing wrong, and therefore he doesn't have the ability to fix it.
The other real elephant in the room is that there is a lack of anyone at the club who sees what is wrong. The boardroom has very little football experience both on and off the pitch.
Jim and the board won't know what's hit them when we lose a large number of season ticket holders in summer . |

Agree with others comments. Dale the better team but sadly Mitchell has missed two good chances.
Edwards looks very assured .
We look nervous at the back on occasions. Sutton are pressing early in the second half. |

I have visited many places where you have to scan your ticket to gain entry, and can honestly say that the system at Dale seems to be the most primitive I have ever encountered. It just looks like it was put together as part of a junior school science project.
If we are to progress and be able to cope with a ground that is only just over half full (ok...it looked closer to 75% full but I guess we will never know) we need a much better entry system. Yet another Bottomley project that hasn't been value for money. |

Crumbs. That was awful for the people who turned up and gave us yet another chance. They've probably given us several chances down the years but the opportunity to roar us on to Wembley against lower league opponents lured them back.
Let me say one thing. We will never ever progress with Jim in charge. He is far too cautious, careful or negative. Choose what you want.
I'm sick and tired of us not attacking when we should be trying to kill off games be it home or away. I'm sick and tired of the feeble excuses the Jim trots out and his almost complete disregard for entertaining the crowd...whether it's 2000 or 6000.
There can be no excuses for our boring boring football when the board is trying to increase attendances.
Thanks Jim. But no thanks. I for one hate your insipid negative brand of football...made much worse given the awful standard of this league and the relative strength of the squad.
Good luck Spennymore. You had more guts on the day than we were allowed. |

I too didn't think Weston had a good game, but neither did Buyabu and Alarakia ( he's too "fiddly" on the ball)
Ultimately, Jim's game management/second half tactics have cost us and not for the first time.
I honestly believe this squad has underperformed by at least 10 points due to the managers tactical decisions.
Thought Rodney had another good game despite playing deeper again. EEL also had a good game. |

We were the better of two average teams until the stupid challenge resulting in a penalty. After that, we showed our soft underbelly yet again and they actually should have won it.
Turning point for me was us sitting 10 yards deeper in the second half and also the substitution of Rodney, who looked one of our few decent players.
Sometimes I struggle to understand what Jim actually sees. No doubt the pitch will come in for criticism, but its the same for both teams. |
