RIP Joe. An icon of Rochdale AFC and a true club legend. Such an inspirational person and my heart goes out to his young family at this devastating time. A true fighter till the end and when Dale were fighting for their League 1 survival it was fitting he came off the bench and saved us that memorable day v Charlton. It was written in the stars and its a day all Dale fans will never forget. Thank you Joe 💜
He was in the Pearl St with the other players not playing and he didn't look like he was limping when he walked past. Someone mentioned he'd said weeks away from playing? So I'd guess it would be the last couple of games (and the play offs if we're in them). He wasn't on any of the training clips online this week - although that could be on purpose. Hopefully we see him again and its not too late!
This Saturday is massive just to stop the rot. I know its a football cliché but we can only really take 1 game at a time. It's imperative we have the 3 points by 5pm Saturday - anything else and we might aswell forget about the play-offs.
Have you listened to any of his post match interviews? That first half performance in Jim's eyes is 'controlling the game'. Never mind we somehow didn't go in 1-0 down when Gordon gifted them practically an open goal and they contrived to hit the post. Of course that first half performance didn't bother him or else he should be shouting at the players to step it up rather than stood like a statue on the sideline stroking his chin.
And there's a way of shoving that back down the fans throats and saying ' shut up' - and that is to play better and try harder than the other guy and finish easy chances like last night!
It was a good save according to Dale commentary! Never a bad miss - they cant say that. Also a great chance early in the 2nd half for Gordon and he ballooned it over. Then Rodney somehow got himself offside when looking right across the back line and he actually finished it into the far corner. We are just so wasteful, be it chances created or poor setpieces. Never mind Jim moaning about late goals - we had enough chances Tuesday/Saturday/Tuesday to win all 3 games comfortably.
Promoted twice with Salisbury by winning the play offs and play off wins with both Bristol Rovers and Port Vale. There cant be many lower league managers out there with that sort of success and he's available. Jims a nice man but this season is only going 1 way now sorry.
Available (Im sure he's been linked with us before)? Won promotions in the non league with Salisbury, Bristol Rovers (play offs) and promotions in the league with Bristol Rovers and Port Vale (play offs).
I mean it just shows you how bad this league is that we could have gone 5th tonight with a win. To think 10 years ago, season 14/15 we were finishing 8th in league 1 with one of our best attacking teams ever.
Awful awful result and another sleepwalking performance. No urgency and a number 9 who struggles to control the ball and score goals. Jim was probably happy with a 0-0. Can hear him now... 'I couldn't see them scoring Greg'. Well they did - nice guys dont win and Jim is a very very nice man. The play offs are looking like they are too much for us now. Our away form is shocking and we are so soft and easy to play against. Really cant see us winning another game this season.
