A foriegn country has to approve the nomination of a new ambassador. Biden could accept him only for Trump to reject him when he becomes president. |

Still FIFA will go ahead with the World Cup in Saudi despite its appalling human rights record and lack of antly rights for women. |

It is not that costly operating two stadiums most of the cost running St Helens was not bourne by Glamorgan. They pay a relatively small match high fee. The match day costs were more than covered by local sponsorship and generous donations by the balconies. What Glamorgan did lose when they reduced championship games to Sunday league games to 1 a season was large gate receipts and membership from Swansea postcodes including Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Once there were 5000 Glamorgan members in the area now less than a couple 100. A loss of membership income of over £500,000 a year. The Cardiff area membership has not increased either despite more games. The development of Sophia Gardens nearly bankrupted the club as income from infrequent test matches never reached Glamorgans estates. They were only saved from bankruptcy by Cardiff City Council and the Glamorgan chairmen writing of millions in loans as well as a financial bale out from the ECB. |

It already happens in Wales. In many local authorities, particularly North Wales, the best candidate is often not appointed if they can't speak Welsh. |

Only 3 members of the Senedd are from Ethnic backgrounds and only 43 are female. Looks like the Senedd is not very diverse. |

Doubt it a Turkish drug dealer who ran the largest heroin drugs ring in the UK has successfully appealed his deportation after his release from prison. Apparently it is because he would not be safe in Turkey and would be a breach of his human rights under the ECHR. This despite him being a Turkish passport holder who has visited Turkey 8 times since his release from prison. |

Ospreys v Scarlets tomorrow be interesting to see if they get 10,000. Only a few years ago they got 20,000 for this fixture. |
| Forum Reply | Ospreys at 13:29 20 Dec 2024
The ECB never told Glamorgan that. It was purely the choice of the Glamorgan committee to upgrade Cardiff despite members protests. |
| Forum Thread | Mandelson to be next Ambassador to USA. at 09:06 20 Dec 2024
Looks like Mandelson is to be the Uk's ambassador to the USA. This despite twice having to resign from the Cabinet, first for an undisclosed loan to finance his mortgage and then in a "cash for passport " scandal. He is an ex EU commissioners and as such still receives a hefty pension from the EU. This looks like cronyism at its best. UK Ambassadors are usually career diplomats not former politicians. He will no doubt continue push his pro EU and anti Brexit views. |

No religious marriage in the UK are recognised unless it takes place in an authorised venue, is witnessed or carried out by someone authorised to register marriages and both parties sign the register. Legal age for marriage in England and Wales is now 18. |

Strange Netherlands has the tallest men in the World yet their life expectancy is higher than the UK which has smaller men. I doubt life expectancy has anything to do with height, though it has been proven that being overweight, obesse, smoking and excessive drinking reduce life expectancy. |

St Helens was a far suppior ground to watch cricket in than Sophia Gardens. Sophia Gardens had no stands and all cricket was watched from ground level with poor views. The pavilion at Sophia Gardens was tiny with only room for about 50 in the bar. St Helens had far better views and a far larger pavilion and better facilities. It was the reason that England played New Zealand in a one day international at St Helens in 1973, the first time England had played a home match in Wales. It also hosted a world Cup 50 over match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in 1983. Sadly following Hillsborough and Bradford large areas of St helens were deemed unsafe and the council were unwilling to invest in new facilities and the ground went into terminal decline . Cardiff City Council funded the Development of Sophia Gardens in 2008. Though even then they sited the new pavilion at the side of the pitch rather than behind the wicket much to the annoyance of Glamorgan Members. [Post edited 20 Dec 8:51]

Correct segregation for standing fans was introduced a lot earlier. In the FA Cup in 1968 Arsenal fans were housed under the double Decker In 1971 on boxing day in good old league 3 Aston Villa fans were again in the double decker standing area. Over 24,000 in attendance that day with gates closed well before kick off . You could buy stand tickets but those areas were not segregated as there was very little trouble from people who could afford to sit down. I can remember sitting with Palace fans in the stands at Selhurst Park for the Fa Cup replay in 1980 discussing the game without any trouble . |
| Forum Reply | TNS a very naive tonight at 07:17 20 Dec 2024
I doubt TNS are that good. Their average attendance is 229, 11th out of 12 in the Cymru league. The average attendance of the Cymru League is 316 this season with a total attendance of all clubs 58,511 By comparison approximately 500,000 people have attended the four EFL Welsh clubs this season. TNS attendance is lower than any team in the Northern Premier league. They have an average attendance of over 700 which no Cymru team can match. The Isthmian league average attendance is also over 700. The Cymru league despite the efforts of the Welsh FA is a poor standard is of little interest to the football public of Wales |

Funny killy never sees the irony of wanting independence from a democratic UK only to surrender it to the Undemocratic EU. He never accepts that the UK, including Wales, democratically voted the leave the EU. He also refuses the accept that 80% of the Welsh population don't want independence. |

Correct when equality was announced us men were hoping we would get Equality with women and get our state pensions at 60. Even 5 years backdated pension of approximately £40,000. No such luck. |

| Forum Reply | Syria War - 300,000 civilian deaths at 09:35 18 Dec 2024
I don't think Assad was protecting anyone but his own. The dead bodies of 300,000 Syrians, mostly civilians, his forces with the aid of Russia have killed is testament to his brutal treatment of own people. Strange how Russia has complained about the killing of a Russia soldier while it continues to target Ukraine civilians on a daily basis. The Russian state is more than happy to continue to allow 100s of ordinary soldiers to be killed on a daily basis. |
| Forum Reply | The I voted labour and want to apologise thread. at 22:06 17 Dec 2024
Strange men knew about it at the time. We all wondered if we would now get our pensions at 60 the same as women. No suck luck equally meant women would get their pensions at the same age as men. |
| Forum Reply | Syria War - 300,000 civilian deaths at 18:12 17 Dec 2024
Well the Russians have and they targeted civilians as usual. The UK and USA attached Syrian military target in response to chemical attacks by Syria on civilians. |
