I think the turning point funnily enough was the last time we won - at Barnsley. We were dire that night until late in the game when we roused ourselves to score 2 goals. In a way it was unfortunate that we beat a totally inept Barnsley playing that way, because it has been continued in the following 3 games up to today, against more competent opposition with the inevitable outcome - 3 defeats. We even had people defending the performance at Barnsley - ‘we showed patience and ground them down until we could finish them off’. Oh yeah. |

Totally agree. I’ve never seen a team spend so much time between their own penalty box and the centre circle - back and fore, sideways back and fore, back again and then a forward pass , hooray! You think we’re out of there. No somebody puts it back again. It’s tedious in the extreme.
No wonder Piroe screwed up that chance at the end. The poor bugger must be nodding off wondering when the ball is going to be passed to him.
Let’s up the tempo and break into a run boys! You all look constipated. This game is there for the taking. Laird also looked off the pace and should have done much better on several occasions. If Piroe, Paterson and Ntcham together with Manning can click second half, we might win this. But it’s far from certain. If Forest score they’ll close it down. Bloody frustrating, and I don’t care a toss that passing accuracy is 90%. So what? |

Agree with all of that, especially Ethan Laird who has done bugger all for weeks now, except receive a pass glued to the touch line and pass it backwards. Today, he did cut inside once and unleash a left-footed shot straight at the goalkeeper. Fantastic! Let’s see it more often. He used to go outside his full back and cut a pass back into the penalty area, but he seems to have forgotten that he can. He has good acceleration from a standing start- let’s see it more often g’boy!, |

I agree. I switched to the Middlesbrough stream when SwansTV lost picture towards the end. It was a radio commentary so a bit too verbose, but much more atmospheric with the crowd noise. |

‘work in progress’ ? Certainly hard work (to watch) but not any signs of progress - way too pedestrian.
Anyway Ntcham is now on - a proper footballer, as is Piroe who’s had two good efforts on goal, So perhaps this half will be more enjoyable …and yes I’ll enjoy a beer. |

What a lacklustre, half-arsed, pathetic performance so far. Everything done at half pace, much too much passing sideways and backwards in our own half, poor ball control, appalling passing accuracy (apart from the back passing), hopeless attacking play and even worse defensive play. Mediocrity personified.
We’ve been abysmal. I don’t care how ‘even’ the commentators feel the game is. [Post edited 4 Dec 2021 15:57]

I’d go for Fabianski n goal, Tommy Smith alongside Ashley Williams at the back, Ivor Allchurch pulling the strings in midfield, and Jimmy McLaughlin alongside Michu up front. There are a few more names but my memory fails me!

Pity Carroll’s not visible in the first frame when the ball is passed forward. As it is it’s indeterminate. The last frame shows him well ahead of Williams when he receives the ball, but that’s irrelevant. We need to see where he was at the instant the ball left the passer’s foot. This was after the Barnsley game, which was probably the worst example of what we’re talking about. |
