Regardless of how good or bad both Cam and Ben are we know that we really desperately need another quality centre back. Whatever the qualities of the two we've got you simply can't go into any Champ season with just two centre backs because if either is having a bad spell who do you replace them with ? Ward ? Or Fulton ? An under 21 ? |

Yes it is probably, almost certainly, too late. But with such an excellent second half of the season with VM as manager it means we can really look forward positively to next season as long as the owners are willing to invest as much as PSR allows. |

Trump has been complaining about Keir not jumping into bed/war with him. He says we're allies and allies stand together. Keir said he is not willing to go to war because it wasn't in the UK's interests (initially also because it wasn't legal albeit now it is for defensive reasons after the drone attack on Akrotiri). Imagine the very unlikely scenario that Keir Starmer was to take the UK into a war. Would our 'ally', Trump, jump in with us or would he say no if he didn't believe it was in the best interests of the USA ? I know what I think What about you ? |

The guy is such a moron he'd no doubt insist the history books are rewritten to reflect his own version of events as he would like them to have been. |

These people are failed asylum seekers. When asylum claims are processed, if the claim is successful they are allowed to stay and if the claim fails they have to leave. And part of the decision that their claim might fail would be the question of whether the country they came from and would have to go back to is safe. So it must be a safe country. So if that is the case why are they not just put on a plane and sent back ? Is it a returns agreement problem ? |

You're right Jack. I've seen/heard a number of people say that according to some experts our involvement would be legal. But if Keir is acting on the advice of people he trusts then imo he's doing the right thing. |

Over the last few days Marco Rubio said on one day that 'we knew that if someone were to attack Iran that we'd need to attack them as well'. Someone obviously being Israel. The next day in a press conference Rubio said that the attack was a joint one (US/Israel). A reporter tried reading him his actual words from just the day before but he wouldn't listen. He and every other member of the US government are now all saying 'joint'. To me it sounds as if they were instructed to change their stories. I wonder who did the instructing. Another person suggested that the reason for the change in phrasing was because DT could not accept the idea that he was being forced to follow someone else. Many people have been pushing Trump for him to disclose info about his 'plan' for the war and the aftermath. So far he's revealed nothing giving the impression he had no plan. When questioned over the last few days DT has veered off in numerous different directions. The 'we're not dealing with Winston Churchill here' was a funny one. And stupid at the same time. I wouldn't give DT the compliment of comparing him with Roosevelt. I would say that he makes George dubya Bush look like an intellectual heavyweight. He also veered off with yet another about turn on the Chagos deal. When people say I have no idea what he's going to say next the fact is that Trump himself doesn't know what he's going to say next. When the US and UK attacked Iraq the attack, it was argued, was legal because they had a report which confirmed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. The WMD info was later proved to be a lie showing that the invasion was illegal under International law. Since then Tony Blair's legacy has been trashed by just about everyone mainly because of the Iraq shambles. One of the people who argued against the Iraq war was Keir Starmer. Keir Starmer, in his statement in the commons, said we've learned the lessons of the Iraq war. We are not going into a war unless the war is legal and we are not going into a war without a plan for what comes next. To me the three points - lessons/legal/plan - are 100% correct. |

I heard on Newnight last night that the ship had been loaded and was being prepared for some other mission and that unloading and reloading for this situation instead is the reason for the time being taken. I don't know why it takes so long but that's the point. What do any of us know about how much work/time is involved in something like this. |

I agree with most of that res. But this statement - 'South east Wales is the most populous region. Swansea city has not gone without' has to be looked at with balance. It is correct that South East Wales is the most populous region. It's also correct that Swansea City has not gone without. It's would also be correct to say that the 'Rest Of Wales' has not gone without. As the most populous area the South East is bound to have most invested in it, quite rightly. But I mentioned balance. The population of the SE is perhaps 30% of the pop of Wales compared with maybe 15% in the South West. So in theory the SW should get 50% of investment in the SE all things being equal. Rail investment is a perfect area to make a comparison because it's been in the news so much recently. As of now investment in the SE over the last five years or so is around £2.5 BILLION. And any money not already spent is money actually committed to be spent. At a guess i'd say investment in South West Wales over that time may have been £100 million. If anyone knows better please say. So instead of 50%, if my numbers are roughly correct, the South West has had 4%. All we've had regarding rail investment in the South West is talk. Nothing of any substance. |

There have been other games where some people would say the Swans were the better team and others would say what's the point if they are the ones that scored and not the Swans. The Swans scored more than Bristol City and scored as many as PNE so we deserved the four points. |

Can't argue with that wr. I'm no fan of the way they (Labour) have run things. And i'm looking forward to the radical change you mention in three months time. If Plaid do indeed get into power i'm obviously hoping they're a brilliant success. All I/we can do is wait and see |

100% correct res. £2 million a day is spent on just keeping the place running safely. That's £0.75 billion a year. And that will only increase. The work in the Senedd equates to two days of spend on Westminster. Politicians arguing against the expansion of the Senedd continually quote a figure of £120 million as being the cost. They do that with the hope that that figure will stick in people's memory when voting time comes around. They don't mention that that figure refers to the cost over ten years. That money includes the cost of the expansion, the cost of employing the extra MS's and their staff, extra office space and so on. Disgraceful according to many. Meanwhile not a single comment when £10 billion will be spent in the same time on keeping the HOW from falling into the Thames. And that is all dead money. No extra staff, no extra office space, no extra anything. Just maintenence. I'm not advocating for the place to be demolished and replaced with council housing. It should definitely be retained but as a museum. People would pay a fortune to visit and that money could be used to pay for it's maintenance. And building a replacement somewhere in the midlands would cost a fraction of the £50 billion. And that would simultaneously give a huge boost to the area where it was sited and leave the bulk of the £50 billion to be spent where it's needed most. |

It makes you wonder if when they are officially promoted they'll be able or allowed, whether by Tan or any PSR considerations, to spend any money at all on team strengthening. Judging by those figures that's a no. And if it is a no that's probably instant relegation again. Sad isn't it. |
 | Forum Thread | Asylum Backlog at 11:55 26 Feb 2026
Some interesting numbers. Some 64,426 people were waiting for an initial decision on an asylum application at the end of December 2025. This is down 20% from 80,841 at the end of September 2025, and a drop of nearly half (48%) from 124,802 a year earlier at the end of December 2024. The asylum backlog peaked at 175,457 at the end of June 2023. The latest figure of 64,426 is the lowest since 60,548 at the end of September 2020. The number of people waiting more than 12 months for an initial decision on their asylum claim stood at 22,275 at the end of last year, down from 45,094 at the end of 2024 and well below the recent peak of 91,741 in June 2023. |
