 | Forum Thread | Our remaining fixtures compared to Wrexham. at 23:41 11 Mar 2026
I’ve just checked the fixtures outstanding. We have six at home and four away. Wrexham have exactly the opposite. Despite being three points adrift it shouldn’t be impossible for us to get above them. What’s of more concern is will there be a charge from a team currently below us ? [Post edited 11 Mar 23:44]

Thanks, no excuses then for Sports Republic to ramp up the prices. |

That’s what it should be but don’t the clubs have to agree on pricing ? I can’t see the Gooners being happy (given what they charge for a home game) as I believe the rules of the competition are that they get half of the gate money after the F A have had their 10%. |

Been reading too many conspiracy theories lately Butty ? |

Happy with that :- 1. It’s at home. 2. Being Arsenal it will almost certainly be on B B C or I T V. 3. We will be massive underdogs so nothing to lose in giving the game a good crack with our best team available. 4. Money spinner for the Club. |

There is no plan Southamptonfan. It’s what happens when our American friends elect as their President someone who is clearly completely unhinged. I’m not surprised that Farage and Truss appear to want to cozy up to him. “ By my friends shall you know me” comes to mind. |
 | Forum Reply | FA Cup QF Draw at 09:25 9 Mar 2026
Assuming that draw is not fixed the odds of being drawn against any one team of choice are 7/1 against. With that in mind I can confidently predict that we will be playing Liverpool for no logical reason whatsoever. It will be at Anfield as well. |

Have a look at the B B C Sports website report of the game. In the comments section Silva is getting an absolute mauling by disgruntled Fulham fans with some suggestions that he doesn’t want to stay at the club because he sees his future elsewhere, hence he picked a weakened team. I’m delighted the penalty was given and converted but having seen the TV replay three times I can’t see any contact between the players legs. Lucky penalty or have I missed something ? |

The only relevant question is :- Would their “ winning goal” have been disallowed if scored by any of the top teams ? Bent as a donkey’s hind legs. |

I didn’t attend and only watched the T V highlights A1079 and had the same feelings you describe. Perhaps it was because our goals were all rather scrappy ? Oddly enough even though we thrashed Q P R on Tuesday I left St Mary’s with a feeling of slight disappointment, not at the result obviously, but at the amount of time wasted at the start of the season under Mr Still. With even a half decent start we would now be challenging for automatic promotion rather than hoping we can sneak a playoff place. |
 | Forum Reply | The by-election result at 18:35 27 Feb 2026
I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Every government party gets a good kicking at bye elections, it’s been like that since the beginning of time. Yesterday was no different. Previous Labour voters didn’t want to vote mid term for their party and thought which alternative party will stop the odious Farage and his bunch of right wing nutters from winning ? Answer, we will vote tactically for The Greens and that’s exactly what they successfully did. |

Spot on grumps. To this very day I’ve never felt so bad about a Saints result and that includes two 0-9:drubbings. Big Lawrie got much more right than wrong but not that day.. Why he played an obviously injured and unfit Steve Williams when Alan Curtis was available remains a complete mystery to this very day. A feeling made worse when Everton strolled past Watford in the final a few weeks later. |
 | Forum Reply | 5 Things About The QPR Game at 18:58 25 Feb 2026
Sports Republic may have reported an attendance of 26,422 but that would have included season ticket holders who didn’t attend. There were vast numbers of seats all over the ground which were unoccupied and if those actually at the game were above 24000 I would be very surprised. Second game in four days.Televised live on Sky, played on an evening when the kids needed to be at school the next day, so to be expected given the circumstances. |

It’s far from unusual for highly intelligent people to lack basic common sense. |

Good to know that at least my memory of the goal Gennoe let in at The Dell chimes with yours Nick. As I posted earlier he was beaten from a mile out with a shot he should have easily pushed over the bar. |

Thanks, you are absolutely correct. My memory obviously fades as the years progress regretfully. |

I was at Wembley for the League Cup Final and if memory serves the pitch cut up like a plowed field following a week of snow and heavy rain. Wasn’t Ian Andrews our keeper ? Whoever it was, he looked incredibly nervous and at some point in the first half he let a shot go right through his hands and it went along the goal line before Chris Nicholl came to his rescue and belted the ball away. David Peach put us in front and then we were outplayed by a very good Forest side in the second half who lead 3-1 before Nick Holmes scored a consolation goal toward the end. On to Arsenal at the Dell. We were winning easily before our keeper ( Ian Andrews ? ) let in a shot from a mile out which he should have tipped over the bar. For the replay I believe Lawrie dropped Andrews ( can’t remember who replaced him ) and played a clearly unfit Charlie George and we deservedly lost again. The whole season turned to ashes in the space of 72 hours. Ironically I seem to remember that Ian Andrews had not conceded a single goal in the six games before his first and suspect only career Wembley appearance. |

Without a shadow of a doubt Wayne Rooney. An absolute disaster as a manager but he continually pontificates about tactics when his track record proves he hasn’t the slightest clue. The only saving grace is that most of the time he mumbles so much that I simply can’t understand much of the utter dribble he talks. |
