Russ would have a say on bit part players like the ones you mentioned but I would doubt he would have any say on players like the Man City kids who the club are buying solely as they (falsely) believed they could turn a profit on them.
Do you know that for a fact Nick? There are lots of instances in modern football where the manager does not have the final say. Why would they? The average life span of a manager at a club is less than 2 years and the club are buying these punts on a player trading model basis to hopefully sell in 2 years time.
Why would we ever need to expand the stadium. It's the perfect size for our level of support and this will never change as long as we are, at best, a struggling PL club.

We're paying £10m a pop for the big club's failed youngster's and the question is not so much if Charles, Edozie and Bazunu are PL level, more if they are even Championship level.
Did the cup used to be played on the same day as league matches back then? I'm sure I remember seeing something when they got to the cup final under Twitchy that had a copy of the front page of the local paper for the day after the final and in the corner was a small report about Saints playing a dull goalless draw and the 'the biggest cheer of the day came when news came through that Portsmouth had won the cup'.
