(Non QPR) Commonholds
at 22:33 11 Jul 2025

I never dealt with any when I was conveyancing and didn't come across it. A flat held separately by each of you as freeholders is really a no-go as you can't enforce the covenants against each other that are required for a flat. That is what the freeholder of a property of leasehold flats is able to enforce against each leaseholder. However, over the course of time, and in some instances, the current freeholder couldn't be found or identified and that was causing problems for payments (breach of covenant) (and if it was a really old property the payment could be in groats or somesuch ); freehold duties; leasehold extensions etc. I presume that this was something brought in to combat that problem so the short term of a lease would no longer be an issue; nor the enforcement of the covenants; nor finding the current freeholder. You would take over the common duties of the freeholder as a group. As the joint commonholders you would be able to enforce the covenants and take over the duties and joint costs for the common areas as a group with a common interest. Whenever a flat changed hands the new owner would automatically join in the commonhold without any loss in the chain of holders. I see it doesn't seem to have taken off so maybe there is a downside even though it sounds like a good idea. Other than that not much help I'm afraid.

I've been lucky as I've always met men during my life just in the natural course of things. I met Blob on here unintentionally but I think we might have been the only couple who met on here? I met a partner in a pub when neither of us was particularly looking for anyone. He has just died but we stayed friends right up till now. One man in the street - he had one leg and was always in the same place as I went past every day and couldn't escape and then my current partner I've known for years as a friend. When I was on social media sites generally, and I knew the ladies who were on there, I did notice a lot of their profile pictures looked nothing like the actual person I knew as they'd been altered, quite drastically in some cases - so beware gentlemen .

Too big to fail and generally allowed to be their own regulator I think was what saved them. There were a dozen whistleblowers bringing cases - two of them died suddenly last year - so ten left and you never know what that might bring.

Yes I watch Mentour Pilot as well Met, and Pilot Debrief.

As for blaming it on the pilots - Boeing were happy with that conclusion with the first 737 Max that went down and then only when the second went down not long after, and when they had no choice, did they have to concede it might not be pilot error but rather technical details that Boeing had failed to highlight so I'd be a bit sceptical.

Eze Free Thread (Non QPR): Q: Is (polite)Society gone or am I just aging?
at 08:47 3 Jul 2025

In defence of supermarket staff, of which I am one after a stopgap job whilst looking for another in the legal profession somehow turned into 14 years, I would say that quite a few do give a f@ck about customer service. I'm on the till and have a conversation with everyone as I'm throwing (joke) their shopping through and you can do that and be efficient at no cost to anyone. Especially during lockdown it seemed that you might be one of the only interactions a lot of older people had.

It's got less of a pleasant job as time as gone on as there is a huge problem with shoplifting, even here in sunny Penzance. I've been trying to stop men who have got as far as the front of the shop with their stash of alcohol/meat, or anything else you care to mention, and shouting in the headphones or ringing bells to say that I've got a shoplifter only for them to get away after an aggressive tussle (I'm not winning that one as a 60 year old woman) as I shout some complimentary term out the door at their receding back. We had a very elderly lady recently who has been coming in for years who it turned out has been nicking every time she's been in - she went sort of quietly after she was confronted with her crime although she still tried to say we'd overcharged her last time (she'd pay for 3 items whilst stealing a dozen more).

Having said, that at the moment we have a couple of younger members of staff who, I think, are rude to customers and one has a face like a smacked-arse and I see that sort of thing you mention in their (lack of) customer service so I suspect it's like any other job and you get what you might term suited or less suited staff for that particular role.

Watching from home and I'd not heard of the Nova Twins but they were good live and enjoyed their set. Franz Ferdinand, Wunderhorse and Amyl and the Sniffers all good and caught some of Biffy Clryo. Busta looked like he'd just turned up for the money and I gave up on him early.

I wouldn't say he's good looking and that's from a lady's point of view - looking at photos, he's got that Midge Ure mousy look (or rodent but that sounds a bit harsh). I just happened to be looking at the official site pictures of last season's first team yesterday and thinking they were a motley crew and I'd say we had two good looking players in the whole team .
