That's good to read, hope he continues to get better. I must make sure I get an AKUTR's at the next game.

Some good finishes there but all in the 18 yard box, we hardly ever create chances like that for our strikers! And haven't for years it feels like.

He's running the London Marathon this year for which he'll get a medal.

He'll probably try and storm the winners podium though to claim 1st place if he gets there in time.

Bit suspect that a fire that clobbers a major part of UK infrastructure happens in the same week moves are being made to install European armed forces in Ukraine.

Obviously speculation I know yadda yadda...

Leeds Reflection
at 16:03 16 Mar 2025

I thought it was a good, entertaining game yesterday and we certainly deserved a point. This Leeds team is clearly stronger than last years, and probably a bit mentally stronger as well, so a good point overall, stops the rot a bit after some disappointing results and performances in recent weeks.

The one criticism that could probably be said is we were careless in possession quite frequently, which did put us under pressure against a side like Leeds. As Mr Warburton always used to say, "you have to take care of the football"!

I'd happily get the train to QPR instead of driving (and occasionally do) but the cost compared to driving is astronomical and just not worth it economically for me.

Its ridiculous, really, I fully agree me doing a 200 mile round trip solo in a car is really inefficient, but its also significantly cheaper!

No. 10
at 16:53 10 Mar 2025

I detest the American method of retiring shirt numbers everytime an iconic player in it retires, meaning no-one else will ever get the chance to take up the mantle and give the number a continuation in its history.

Akos was a great #10, so was Eze. Taarabt was but he didn't wear it for his best with QPR.

Chair is fine enough, not as good as some before him but much better than others.

Tjaronn Chery was semi-decent for his time in it to be fair.

But I love the fact the #10 is something that can be passed down from player to player, same as how other clubs have similar (Man U with #7, Newcastle #9 etc...)

Something I've always wondered and never known the answer to, when the keeper bounces the ball does that reset the clock?

In My Life for me I think overall. I'm always partial to a well written tune by any act that takes a wistful look back at their lives (a thread theme for another day perhaps...)

Not been for a few years now but always love spending an afternoon down in the Cavern Club when I'm in Liverpool.

This might be me being overly pessimistic / traumatised from the last few years, but whilst I agree with you in principle I'd like us to be doing it whilst we're on more than 44 points and definitely not getting relegated

I was getting downvoted by Blades fans on Reddit yesterday for pointing out its incredibly hard for teams like us to compete long term with them when they're bringing players off the bench most of the rest of the league cannot hope to afford. They didn't seem to like it very much, buying into the idea Wilder is just an incredibly astute manager!

(I mean, in fairness he is a good manager and has proved that over the years, but their current W-D-L record shows for the rest of us its the knife to a gunfight scenario described by Northern in the preview).

Meanwhile at Man Utd

There'll even be players in development squads at Man U with no chance of ever making the first team who'll be on anything from £250k - £500k per year and yet its the poor sods on £30k a year who get fired.

Ridiculous situation but entirely their own making.

I don't know why so many clubs everywhere always have plain change strips, its very boring.

They'd be so much more appealing if they had hoops/stripes/halves/quarters or a single strip/hoop through the middle.

Marti interview in The Independent

I remember reading Gary Waddock once saying that the biggest piece of advice he'd give to burgeoning footballers is to always be aware of what you want to do with the ball before you receive it.

Sounds simple, but in practice a lot harder to achieve in reality, particularly the higher up the ladder you go. And that's the sort of skill that separates great players from good players, and good players from average players. And average players from bad ones, and even the bad ones are miles better than Sunday league cloggers like I was!
