I seem to recall being at the City ground 1996 for our final game In the Premiership, I think we lost as usual In any case we were already relegated out of the Premiership or whatever It was called back then. Anyway never mind all that bollox, at the final whistle he turned round to us QPR fans and threw his gloves Into the crowd (Rangers fans) somebody In the crowd grabbed them and threw them back at him, to me and my sense of humour I thought that was fcking funny. Some daft things you never forget. Tough season that was [Post edited 11 Apr 21:35]

 | Forum Thread | Rowett reacts to QPR defeat. at 09:40 10 Apr 2025
If anybody's Interested, from the Oxford Mail. U’s head coach Rowett said: “With the performance that we put in on Saturday, what you can’t do is just put an abject performance in for probably 30 minutes I would say, but the two goals, we just gave them away quite frankly. “I’m not trying to take anything away from QPR. Maybe they played with the same desperation as what we played with on Saturday, but the game meant just as much to both teams. “That was the disappointment really. I think we didn’t show any energy really in the first half, we didn’t go and press with any intensity. “I just thought we looked leggy for some strange reason, and like I said, when you give goals away like that, the two goals should never happen and it’s probably better if that’s all I say about that.” Rowett added: “We played like we didn’t have that same spark. Whether or not sometimes the energy you put into a Saturday game against Sheffield United to win the game, but like I’ve said all season, if you’re a good team, you have to go again and you have to have that desire to go again. “I’m not questioning the players’ desire. What I am saying is that it looked like a performance where we didn’t turn up with the same aggression and the same spirit that we showed on Saturday. “Sometimes that gives the opposition a chance, but I’ve seen many performances like that over the years, where you don’t play well for 30 minutes and it’s still 0-0, and then when you do change things, you have an opportunity to swing the momentum of the game. “I think that’s the disappointment. To come in at half-time and be 2-0 down in the matter that we were, with both set pieces and both very soft goals. “QPR haven’t really had to work hard to score, and you don’t expect the second goal to be scored a yard off the line in the middle of the goal.” |

I absolutely would not sign him for another season, he's got a football brain no doubt about that but another season In the Championship would be a bridge too far IMO. Thanks Jack, goodbye, whatever. [Post edited 9 Apr 23:17]

I'm fine with who we are, since gawd knows when It seems like we've been *hanging On* from the 1st April every year. It's the way it Is, bottom line Is If we ''folded'' at the end of the season and didnt exist anymore no way on this Planet would you ever see me In another club's ground. Ever. |

We've been In that part of the ground drew 0-0. We were moved to an area alongside the touch line for the next game where we took great pleasure In informing Matt Le Tissier that he had the biggest nose In the world. He was brilliant and took It In good spirit and consequently ran us ragged. I liked the Old Dell. |

*What's the point of it all?* ££££££££££ these. It's an expensive arse following your team about In the Premiership, financial stability for your club by just being briefly In the Prem, might sound good to some but not me. Getting beat almost every week? no thanks. Good away day St Mary's. [Post edited 6 Apr 17:01]
