Away at the Ricoh, Hello to Former Canaries Wednesday, 15th Dec 2010 09:56 The trip to Coventry this weekend will be a reunion of sorts for a few of the current squad. Old boys David Bell and Sammy Clingan are both on the Coventry books, although it is thought unlikely that either will figure in the game. David Bell's Norwich career was most noticeable for being signed by Glenn Roeder. Not for being a rare, permanent addition durig Roeder's spell, but for being injured before he signed. Injury is likely to be the reason he doesn't play Saturday, having fallen behind others while recovering. Ahead of Bell is another old boy, Sammy Clingan. Popular with supporters during his spell in City's midfield, many were left with a bitter taste after Clingan was among the first to jump ship following relegation. Clingan, too, is recovering from injury and probably will not figure, being ahead of Bell but behind Aron Gunarrson, who will be called into play because of the suspension of regular Lee Carlsey, who picked up his fifth yellow card in the goalless draw against Reading last week. Norwich will be without Leon Barnett, of courtse, serving out his one match ban for picking up a second yellow sending off against Portsmouth. Grant Holt will make a welcome return, his absence last week left City like a rudderless ship, many felt. Not just for his play on the pitch, but his leadership. Besides, a battle between him and Portsmouth's David Kitson would have been a joy to behold. Lambert has his long-term injury list, but no new additions are reported as yet. Of course, it is a rematch between Lambert and Adie Boothroyd, himslef with former Norwich connections. More importantly, though, is the result from the last time that Lambert met Boothroyd in a head to head. Norwich beat Colchester 5 goals to 1 in the fixture that meant so much to so may Norwich supporters and staff. With Boothroyd's prferred route one style, it looks as though it could be a game where our midfielders can win it for us.
