Elding signs for Grimsby Monday, 25th Jul 2011 15:17 by Col Striker Anthony Elding has finally left Dale with the confirmed news that he has signed for Grimsby Town, putting an end to speculation over his next move. We think. The news has been reported on the official Grimsby Town website which states that Elding has signed a one year deal with the Mariners, with an option for a further twelve months based on appearances. Elding was all set to sign for Plymouth Argyle last week, but pulled out at the last minute. It is believed that it was a last minute approach by Grimsby that held this move up, with such a move preferred by Elding who lives in Lincolnshire. There is even some money heading our way, with both clubs having agreed to that most common transfer of an "undisclosed fee". Aside from the aborted Argyle transfer, Elding had been linked with moves to Mansfield and Stockport before finally deciding on a move to Grimsby. Elding leaves Spotland almost a year to the day that he originally joined us having scored five goals in twenty appearances for the club.
