Bradford Yet to Seal Lavery Deal
Bradford Yet to Seal Lavery Deal

Bradford City have confirmed that they are in talks with former Town striker Caolan Lavery but say they are still to complete a deal to sign the 19-year-old, who refused a contract at Portman Road at the end of his scholarship earlier in the season. TWTD was first to reveal the League Two side's interest in Lavery in early November.

Bradford chairman Mark Lawn says discussions have stalled while Lavery’s agent is abroad: “Talks are ongoing with his agent but at present his agent is in China.”

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson is keen to add the Canadian-born Northern Irish U21 international to his squad having kept an eye on his progress for some time: “If you get a chance to sign a young goalscorer, then sometimes that can be too good to turn down.

“We’ve been monitoring Caolan at Ipswich. The scout down there, Brian Owen, has worked with me at Charlton and Colchester before [and at Town under Sir Bobby Robson] and he’s watched him progress in the youth team.”

Having offered Lavery, who recently had trials at Leicester and Sunderland, a contract until the end of the season, the Blues would be entitled to compensation once he signs on the dotted line.
