Norwich's feeder club get their own feeder club!

If we are Norwich's feeder club then poor Pompey must be ours! Neil Warnock added the FOURTH ex Chimes man today by capturing David Norris from beneath the noses of Sheffield Wednesday.

Jason Pearce, Jamie Ashdown, Luke Varney and now David Norris make up a quartet of ex Portsmouth men as Leeds today swooped to snap up the 31 year old.

Norris could have arrived last summer, but opted for crisis hit Portsmouth and Leeds again took advantage of a club who might not even exist in a fortnight's time when Norris looked certain to move to Sheffield Wednesday.

Warnock revealed he had admired Norris since the player emerged at Plymouth.

Like Luke Varney, the Peterborough born player began his career in the non league game starting at Lincolnshire based Stamford before moving on to Boston United. The next stop was Bolton who paid £50,000 for the then 18-year-old but Norris never played a first- team game at the Reebok and instead returned on-loan to Boston and in 2002 probably hit the low point in his life and career when Sam Allardyce sent him on loan to Hull for six matches.

Having escaped the Hull hell-hole happier times lay ahead at Plymouth where in six years with the Pilgrims he was part of a side who charged up the League and made 226 starts scoring 27 goals and becoming a firm favourite with the Argyle fans.

But in 2008 he made the move to Ipswich, for an undisclosed fee. He made 106 appearances and scored 13 goals whilst in Suffolk. However, he is also remembered for a controversial goal celebration against Blackpool in November 2008 when he appeared to show support to former Plymouth team mate Luke McCormick. McCormick was jailed earlier that year for killing two young children after falling asleep at the wheel on the M6 whilst returning from Norris's wedding. Norris was fined £25,000 and apologised to the dead kids' parents for his gross stupidity.

Norris left Portman Road last summer having failed to agree terms with Ipswich, but despite being linked with Leeds he opted for Portsmouth instead where he managed a respectable 8 goals in 40 games during his season at Fratton Park.

Warnock has signed a vastly experienced Championship midfielder, capable of the odd goal or two, with the Leeds boss hinting he would form a good partnership with Paul Green and compensate for the loss of a certain player who has joined a growing band of Leeds exiles in East Anglia.
