Stu Roberts will probably have to stick it out on the bench even though JJ still fails to deliver the goods in the right wing position, but expect to see him at some point in the game if Price is still having a nightmare.
With another 10 day break since our last match the squad should be back to full fitness considering they've only played 3 matches in a month due to the diabolical weather. This dosen't bode well even if Wigan have been hit by many injury worries because of they full christmas fixture list, as historically we always do poor after such lay-offs.
On the injury front Latics finished the game with three walking wounded in Pat McGibbon, Stefan Bidstrup and Kevin Sharp who were all forced to carry on until the end of the game carrying knocks.
McGibbon and Bidstrup's injuries were evident to everybody watching at the JJB Stadium as they both struggled to finish the Wrexham game. Bidstrup has a hamstring problem and is doubtful for the visit of Swansea this weekend while McGibbon's situation is being watched closely ahead of the game.
Kevin Sharp however will be sitting out the game anyway due to a one match suspension which he picked up following his fifth yellow card received during the Stoke City game and will have plenty of time to recover before the crunch top of the table clash against Millwall at the New Den.
Player to watch: Simon Haworth
Wigan's record signing at £600,000 from Premiership side Coventry City where he never really made his mark after leaving his home town club Cardiff City. Scored against Wigan at Springfield Park in Cardiff's 1-0 victory on Easter Monday 1997. Has scored some spectacular goals for Latics including a superb equaliser against Gillingham at Wembley in the Second Division Play-Off Final. The lanky forward is a constant menace to defences and can score goals when you least expect him to. Has interested a number of higher level clubs. |
