Durkan Is Swansea Target

Home > Story Index >Durkan Is Swansea Target

Durkan, 29, was with Flynn at Wrexham for 4 years between 1992 and 1996 where he made 75 appearances scoring 5 goals. He was then sold for £70,000 to Stockport where he made a further 79 appearances, hitting the target 7 times before moving onto Moss Rose for 3 years for a spell with Macclesfield. 116 games and 13 goals later he moved to Rochdale, via a loan spell at York and has been there for 18 months, making just 36 appearances.
In total, Durkan has made 313 appearances during his career, scoring 27 times. The Rochdale Rivals site describe Durkan as a "predominantly a right sided midfielder who is capable of putting of great crosses, but he has shown that he can play equally as well on the left side. Whilst not possessing fantastic pace, he has proved to be a hard worker, who is not afraid to track back and defend."
Durkan is likely to be signed in time for the visit of Bury this weekend, a game that surely has to be a must win for the Swans as they enter the most important 22 games of their history in their attempt to secure league football in Swansea next season.
Other targets rumoured for Flynn at the moment include Brett Angell although we hear whispers that James Thomas is also disillusioned at the moment because he is being played out of position.
Flynn was told this week that he had a job for life at the Vetch, the first manager since John Hollins (remember that statement) - a personal opinion is that this is a dangerous comment to make because a job is never for life - least of all a manager of a football club. However, voting in the current JackArmy.net poll suggests that the majority of the fans want Flynn to stay at the moment and whilst I never agreed with his appointment in the first place at this moment in time I agree with that decision for Flynn to stay although an appointment for life is slightly OTT?
