Yeovil's Johnson Is Swans Target

Both the Evening Post and Yeovil's Official web site are reporting Swansea's interest in Cider midfielder Lee Johnson.

Johnson, the son of Yeovil boss Gary, is the subject it is believed of a six figure bid from Swansea although nothing concrete has yet been agreed. However, it is understood that Johnson is looking for a move away from Huish Park and could yet find himself alongside his former team mate Gavin Williams in a new look Swansea midfield.

Johnson has scored 21 goals in 169 league games since joining them four years ago. He has been instrumental in their rise from the Conference and promotion last season to League One as champions of League Two.

He has been an ever present this season but could his last appearance have been in Yeovil's 2-0 win at Ipswich in the Carling Cup last night?

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins: ''It's all happened very quickly, 'We never really considered it because we thought he was very secure at Yeovil, but things have changed. Lee would like to progress his career elsewhere as soon as he can and we are reasonably hopeful that a deal can be done. ''I have had discussions with the Yeovil chairman and we are in the process of trying to agree a fee.''

The transfer window closes for the first time on league clubs next Wednesday and with the Swans suffering through injuries and suspensions it has long been noted that reinforcements are needed. And in Williams and Johnson nobody could argue that they do not bring us something that we don't have already

One thing seems certain there will be transfer activity at White Rock over the next seven days so stay tuned!!
