Trust Talk- 24th August

It's been some time since we last communicated with you via this column and for that we apologise. With the move to the new stadium and record season ticket sales at the club, we have had our work cut out ensuring that all those who have requested to be Trust members are getting the information they require. And, as ever with this time of year, we have held our annual general meeting, which incorporates the elections of the Trust board members who will serve on your behalf for the next 12 months. It is with regret that we saw the departure of two longstanding board members in Paul Morris and Marilyn Croft. Both Paul and Marilyn had been with us since the formation of our Trust back in the dark days of 2001. It is also a great loss that Gwyn Johns decided not to stand for re-election. As a Trust, we thank them for all their hard work for the cause and wish them the very best for the future. However, the Trust moves on and it is with pleasure that we welcome on board two new members in Jim White and Phil Sumbler. Jim has a wealth of experience behind him as a marketing director of a large IT company and understands fully the importance of communication, PR and marketing in any successful organisation. Phil joints the Trust board after having spent many hundreds of hours in contact with Swans fans over the years with his work on www.jackarmy.net, as well as being co-author on several Swans books that you may find on your shelves at home! Both Jim and Phil look forward to working with you all and playing their part in developing the Trust who, we should remember, are part owners of the football club. In addition to these new board members, the positions of office have been appointed. Leigh Dineen, Ron Knuszka and Nigel Hamer retain their positions as supporter director, chairman and secretary respectively. Paul Morris's departure means an opening for Huw Cooze as associate director, while Phil Sumbler takes over from Marilyn Croft as Trust spokesperson. Brian Rees steps up into the role of vice-chairman. And just so they don't feel left out because they don't have fancy titles, we introduce Stuart McDonald, Viv Brooks, John Young and Will Morris as the remaining names on the Supporters' Trust board. Debbie Rees remains as the Trust administrative officer and the person at the end of the phone when you contact us on 07977 382328 or write to us at Swansea City Supporters' Trust, 57 St Helen's Road, Swansea.
