Saints have to start a winning streak.

If Saints are to have any chance of staying up they have to put together a run of winning games and to be blunt they need to do that at home, only one win in the league has seen them lose pace with many of the fellow relegation battlers and they have to start winning and start winning now.

With two home games in a row it gives them a perfect opportunity to do just that, although the odds are clearly stacked against them, however there is a fighting spirit in the squad and all it needs is the spark that ignites the revival, two home wins in a row would not only restore confidence in the team but also give the fans hope that the team can survive.

Of course there will be the distraction of the events off the pitch, but as will become clear in the following weeks, the Club is fighting for its very survival, staying in the Championship is in some respects the least of its worries, staying in existence is a far greater task and indeed a far more important one.

Somewhere along the line there has to be a realisation that the future of the Club is of far more importance than one man and that the Club's future has to be first secured and then at the end of the season the boardroom squabbles can be sorted.

For this afternoon's came Saints have to get stuck into Preston from the start, football is a confidence game and as we have seen with both Doncaster and Forest its amazing hat a few runs can lead to, for saints its important to do that as well if we can beat Preston and Cardiff then its game on, if we dont then I fear that for the first time since relegation to what was then the old third division nearly sixty years ago we will lose a relegation battle before the final day of the season.
