Planet Swans looks ahead to tomorrow nights game against Coventry.

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez will be looking for a positive response from his players after the 3-2 loss to Birmingham City on Friday evening.

Not only did the Liberty Stadium club lose a game that looked all but set to earn at least a valuable point against the promotion contenders but Martinez was dealt a hammer blow with the news that Ferrie Bodde would miss the rest of the season through injury. Facing a Coventry City side under the management of former player and life long Swansea fan, Chris Coleman's Sky Blues outfit will again test the strength and depth of his Spanish counterparts squad.

However come tomorrow evening any sentiment that Coleman has for his former club will be brushed aside as the former Fulham boss eyes another three points against his home town club as he alluded to late last week, “When we play them they will just be another team for me, they will not be the team I support. They will be the latest team who I want to take three points from and just another obstacle in my way.”

Coventry have had a slow start to the season but on loan keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos has questioned his team mates abilities to cope with the pressure from the Ricoh Arena faithful as he told the SWEP, ” Coventry have had a tough time playing at home rather than away. I don't know whether that's the pressure of the fans or what because I've not been there for the last month. Coventry are similar to Birmingham with a few long balls, but they have a lot of individual performers they rely on so it will be an exciting one."

Coleman does have one major injury concern with Robbie Simpson potentially sidelined after the Cambridge born striker needed stitches to his ankle. Midfielder's Jay Tabb and Aron Gunnarsson will be available for selection after the former Swansea City target overcame the flu and the Icelander served his one match ban.

Swansea City will be without the highly influential midfielder Ferrie Bodde as he begins his long road to recovery after sustaining cruciate ligament damage to his knee in the 3-2 loss against Birmingham last Friday.On loan goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopolos is not eligible to face his parent club and his absence will hand Dorus De Vries his first start since the 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers last month. It is thought that the Dutchman will wear a protective mask to protect his cheek and jaw bones. Young Polish shot-stopper Artur Krysiak will be promoted to the bench after missing out on the Birmingham clash.

Defender Marcos Painter is firmly out of the clash with a cruciate knee injury which will keep him out of action until April next year. Other doubts include Andrea Orlandi who has not shaken off a quad injury and fellow midfielder Thomas Butler is nearing full fitness after his hamstring injury but is in a race to be fit to face Coventry. Whilst Leon Britton rounds off a lengthy injury list as the diminutive midfielder has suffered a re-occurrence of a back injury but could yet feature against the Sky Blues but a return against arch rivals Cardiff City on Sunday is more likely.

Jordi Gomez: With Ferrie Bodde out for the rest of the season, Spaniard Jordi Gomez will provide the much needed creative flair in the centre of midfield. Since his arrival on British shores the Barcelona born midfielder has become an instant fan favourite with his brilliant touch and eye for goal. What Swansea fan can forget the free kick that sunk arch rivals Cardiff City? in the 3^rd round of the Carling Cup. If Coventry allow the highly rated 23 year old rule the roost come tomorrow evening the Spaniard will pounce on the opportunity.

Last season the Irishman scored 16 goals that helped Crystal Palace secure a play off spot only to be denied a place in the final by Bristol City. After his contract ran out at Selhurst Park, Coventry came calling and just days before the Sky Blues opened their championship campaign against Norwich the 29 year old joined the club on a free transfer. This season the striker has scored 6 goals in 20 appearances and will cause the Swansea defence problems.
