It's Hall over for Ryan at Leeds!
It's Hall over for Ryan at Leeds!

Leeds United today confirmed the departure of Ryan Hall by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old winger has seen the remaining 18 months of his contract paid up and he is free to search for a new club following Leeds' decision to release him today.

Hall was a puzzling signing by Neil Warnock last season as it was Warnock who had booted him out of Crystal Palace when he was a youngster, citing attitude problems and mixing in with the wrong crowd amongst other things. Hall re-established himself in non-league football and re-appeared on Warnock's radar at Southend United, Leeds initially signing him on loan from the Shrimpers after he failed to agree a move to Blackpool before we made his £150,000 transfer permanent. Bizarrely Warnock cited him as "one for the future" even though the player was in his mid 20's but with a decent record of assists at Roots Hall, as well as a good turn of pace and the ability to operate on either flank, he seemed to be the answer to our prayers.

However save an impressive performance at Huddersfield last season, where he set up two goals in our 4-2 win, he didnt look that good at all and from what I saw of him he was considerably out of depth.

Having slipped from Warnock's thoughts, Hall seemed to pass-by the chance to force himself into Brian McDermott's reckoning, admittedly his partner who lives in Birmingham gave birth to his daughter but he turned up pre-season considerably out of shape.

Further questions were levelled at his attitude when he took to twitter during a loan spell with Sheffield United, where as well as misspelling the word "paid" he also retweeted the witterings of some poor deluded halfwit who was slagging off McDermott for not playing him.

So I applaude the Leeds board for putting us and Hall out of our respective miseries, I'd like to say I'd wish him well but clearly he has an attitude problem and I'm pretty confident he will slip into lower-league obscurity.
