Wanyama Shades Tadic For Ugly Inside Man Of The Match At Anfield
Tuesday, 19th Aug 2014 14:39

We have introduced a new concept for the Ugly Inside player ratings, now after 48 hours the voting will be locked and the winner announced..

Its always good to see how other have assessed each individuals performance, on the Ugly for the last few years we have had a player ratings section, which has been used to varying degrees, over the course of the season it does give the overall picture of how after each different match, the supporters have viewed a players performance, giving a clearer view of a players average over the year as it smooths out the peaks and troughs and takes out the knee jerk votes when it comes to a one off vote for player of the season at the end of the year.

So here we have the first assessment of the year and after the voting has closed Wanyama has come out with an average score of 7.7 out of 10 just shading Dusan Tadic into joint second with Nathaniel Clyne both on 7.5.

Traditionally we have always gone low with our ratings on the Ugly and this has been reflected in the full voting below

6.3 Fraser Forster
6.9 Jose Fonte
6.9 Ryan Bertrand
7.5 Nathaniel Clyne
5.5 Maya Yoshida
6.6 Morgan Schneiderlin
7.7 Victor Wanyama
6.3 Steven Davis
7.5 Dusan Tadic
7.3 James Ward-Prowse
5.8 Graziano Pelle

5.5 Shane Long
6.0 Lloyd Isgrove

Referee 6.8
Match Rating 6.9

Overall though I think Wanyama is a deserved winner, perhaps Tadic might have shaded it if he had stayed on and I think Clyne definately got a point or two extra because of his goal, but Wanyama just put in a good strong solid performance which although did not produce an assist in the case of tadic or a goal in the case of Clyne, ticket all the boxes.

The voting will open again after the West Brom game on Saturday and will remain open till 3pm on Monday giving everyone plenty of time to have their say and even add a comment as well.

So what do you all think was Victor a worthy Victor in this poll / Comments Please.

At last l think Wanyama finally put in a solid performance for 90 minutes, otherwise l would of given it to Tadic as well, will be interesting to see how they do for the rest of the season. I am quite confident we will do very well and really looking forward to the WBA game....

Wanyama was superb at Anfield last year too, a worthy man of the match IMO

But Tadic, Bertrand and Clyne all good too

I was going to vote for JWP (due to the amount of ground he covered and delivery into the box which was always dangerous) but Wanyama was a close second.
Interesting stat for me was that Sturridge had the second lowest number of touches of any player starting the match (yes I know he only needed one to score the winner) and this has a lot to do with the midfield in general cutting off the supply from Couthino who was anonymous and eventually subbed.
Forster had the least number of touches of any player interestingly though a couple of more would have been welcome! (though no fault attached by me to either goal)

Best aspect of Wanyama's game, he didn't give the ball away easily, which has been his downfall in the past. Solid performance and deserved MOTM.

Good idea Nick. So come the end of the season do you intend to crash the awards ceremony and present the Ugly Inside Player of the Season?

It was an amusing one Saturday in light of the fact that in spite of the fact that we as a whole anticipated that it should be average QPR and hack up something like one objective, in a way I was discreetly certain we would see it through on the grounds that every one of the players knew their jobs, and as long as they continued doing what they were doing we would be OK. https://www.expertessaywriters.co.uk/
