Thank you. You saved Southampton Football Club. For many of us that was like saving the life of a family member. Words fail. Terrible loss.

Yesterday’s news was tragic on a personal level, my condolences to all those who new Markus in person. My grief over Markus’ death is not the same as if he had been a close friend mine. However it has struck with me a sense of sadness, that is seperate from worries over what the consequences may be for the future of Saints. I was proud that Markus was the Chairman of SFC, as I am sure that most every fan of our club was. I was proud because our Chairman appeared to be a dedicated, private, hard-working, intelligent, good person.

Our thoughts go out to Markus' family at this very sad time. He saved our club which is the heart of the city and for that we will always be grateful. A quiet and unassuming gentleman who joined in as a fan, Markus was the perfect club owner and will be forever missed. Let's now fulfil his dream.

Markus, my overriding memory of you will be your huge, genuine smile whilst taking your own snaps during the presentation of the JPT at Wembley, sadly the only trophy you will see your Club lift. You will, however, see your Saints lift more trophies in the coming years but from above. Whenever we have a great match, lift a trophy, get promotion or sign a new player I will think of you because without you none of this will have been possible. R.I.P. Markus, patron Saint of The Saints - Thank you for all you did for this great club.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Colchester United Polls |
