FA Premier League

The best bit of this match was that, unlike when we played them at home earlier this season, this time we matched Everton physically and didn't get pushed around.

It was a fairly even game, and we played well, kept our shape and everyone put a shift in.

Aside from JWP, I thought Lavia and KWP both had good games.

The flexibility at the back, switching positions and from a back 4 to a back 5 is pretty eye opening. I may not have warmed to Jones yet but it is clear that the players are taking a lot on board from him.

Back in the mix at the bottom of the table!

3 wins in 3 games in all competitions and first win at Goodiscum Park since 1997 (where a young Kevin Davies scored an unforgettable goal in a 2-0 win).
Caleta-Car lead the back well again, Diallo has stepped up to being much better in a no. 6 role and JWP clearly enjoys playing further up the pitch as a no. 8 (or 10) with Lavia and Diallo behind him. Good job by Nathan Jones (NJ) deciding to play JWP in a more attacking role. It has paid off very well, and today JWP showed his class with 2 great goals, now with 16 direct PL freekick goals scored and just 2 less than Beckhams record. I believe it was JWPs goal number 50 and 51 for Saints. He is without doubt a loyal, true Saint. Amazing.

Every Saints player on the pitch put in a good performance today, and we suddenly look a better team after 3 wins in a week.
Very well done NJ, staff and Saints players.
Young Carlos Alcaraz had a good half hour on the pitch and a debut to remember with some good positioning, energy and defending.
MOTM: JWP <3

Now a good weeks time till the next match.

Congratulations to everyone related to and supporting the Saints.

JWP is not a good player to watch mainly due to his lack of pace and passing negativity, and has had an abysmal season so far which many sensible people on here have recognised. If NJ is going to play him further forward and JWP actually produces again, preferably regularly, against more competitive opposition then, great, there won't be anything not to like.

With our new players, new manager and - now - some good signs of better tactics, more clever formations, better performances in both defense and midfield, based on our 3 past games (wins),

we really only need one factor strongly now:

A proven PL striker.

We need more goals. We need more two nils and we want to see 3 nils once in a while........

Danny Ings, anyone? With his age and 2 cruciate ligament operations and based on his lack of success in Villa he should not cost more than 10 million pounds.

I think the majority of our fans would welcome him back, and it's the only way for him to get a chance of getting one more England game.
