Queens Park Rangers 0 v 1 Ipswich Town EFL Championship Saturday, 19th August 2023 Kick-off 15:00 |
Geoff78 added 18:02 - Aug 19 At half time I thought Rs had done well to withstand early pressure and create chances - a terrific shot from Armstrong which cruelly came back off both posts and Chair shooting just over. But in the second half we offered hardly anything. Willock going off at half time can't be the reason (he looked rusty and not fully match fit) as the whole team looked lethargic. With Armstrong running out of steam and then coming off (he can't play 90, certainly as a sole striker) we had no threat up front. Kolli was keen and ran around a lot, but had little influence. So we rather faded away in the second half and the goal wasn't a surprise. Chair tried an audacious 40 metre lob which the keeper just got back to save otherwise little to report. The subs were ok, but without Armstrong we were toothless and when Field was injured we were always second best. We also seemed less fit than Ipswich which I wouldn't have expected from an Ainsworth team. Whisper it quietly but Dozzel was ok. No one played badly, but we are a pretty ordinary side. Ipswich passed the ball crisply and accurately and deserved the win. I can't think of much to say about the ref which probably means he had a good game. DeanoMD added 18:24 - Aug 19 Not a bad game overall, Rangers very unlucky, things may well have been different if Sinclair's first half effort had of gone in. Played some nice football at times and created chances. Tired a bit in the second half again but the subs don't look as bad as we all first thought. Ipswich are not that great and I can see them struggling eventually.
