Expect the real Colchester United to turn up at the JCS for historic victory
at 19:51 27 Apr 2024

I agree 6,000 should be possible with the Cowley factor and all that's gone on around Colchester. I think the BWA also deserve credit for their hard work.

Sutton put up a good fight today and I feel a little sorry for them, but this aint ‘showfriends’. I hope they can come back to the EFL one day.

What’s going on at Solihull Moors? They are on a roll and look a good bet for making the league. If Gateshead’s ground wasn’t OK for the EFL, how the heck can Solihull’s be OK?

...and should have been a penalty to Crewe, Kells pulling mateys shirt as he was through on goal.

Crewe and Sutton would still need 7 goals between them!

Braintree winning at Chelmsford!

Just whacked my shin on the coffee table dancing around the house when the Dongs scored.

Is there no limit to the pain when you support the U’s?

No drama in the League One drop zone , (despite Burton getting a stuffing), let’s hope it’s a good omen.

Taylor fails to keep Lincoln in the play offs despite nearly 15 mins of added time!!!

At the Community Stadium I can hear the drummer and the faithful in good voice!

Allez les U’s

I'm currently watching the groundstaff unfurl the Sky banner for the centre circle, so it's definitely working. Pitch looks much better today.

Just praying there's not a lightning strike here!!!!!!

Thanks for your concern and advice.

iFollow is good for me as I'm abroad (sound and pictures), I understand that it's not working in the UK today because of Sky.

Just to stress me out, when I bought my pass (11Euros) a few minutes ago, the payment wouldn't work and I have had to go through a webchat, but it's sorted and I'm tuned in already!

The only problem I have now is there's a massive thunderstorm overhead and I could lose internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m 100% certain the U’s are staying up, the only slight problem with that statement is that Sutton are also the U’s, but I’m 99% sure it will be our U’s.

Safe travels to all those coming from near and far. I will be shouting and screaming at ifollow, so hopefully some of that positive energy will make its way back to the community stadium. I hope you all have a bumper time!

After today, I think we are going to need a few weeks off, as much as the players!

Up the (Col) U’s

What's all the fuss about?
at 13:31 26 Apr 2024

I think that’s the point I’m making. 50 years ago you had 4 divisions of professional teams and the rest were real amatuers, the same was largely true in the early 90’s, but now you have almost 5 divisions of professional teams, and (albeit limited) promotion without the reselection process. You can add Barnet, Aldershot, York and possibly Scunthorpe to the list above. All of them have less non-league grounds than Barrow, Harrogate, Accrington, Morecambe, FGR or Sutton.

The difference is not the same as it used to be, it’s just another league, only with slightly worse refs etc. It’s not much different to the difference between other divisions, but there’s still a stigma about being classed as non-league.

I’m certainly not advocating that we test my theory, because I agree that getting back into L2 would be extremely difficult, and having to play Chelmsford or Braintree would be a sobering experience, but it would be a lot better than supporting Bury, Macclesfield etc.

I agree....

Say NO to National League!!!

Obviously the unthinkable is not going to happen, but what is it about moving from tier 4 of the pyramid to tier 5 that is so scary?

To a Marsian, it wouldn’t appear any worse than any other relegation, especially as there’s no reselection to worry about these days.

Falling out of the Championship was inevitable, as we were only ever on vacation at those dizzy heights, dropping out of L1 was a kick in the Jacobs, but nothing we couldn’t take in our stride, but the slightest fear of the next drop and it’s like Father Christmas has just suffered life threatening injuries in a sleigh accident.

Next season, anyone playing Oldham, Hartlepool, Rochdale, Yeovil, Halifax, Saarffend etc. could be excused from thinking they are still in the league anyway. We are 25/1 to survive, yet you couldn’t get the proverbial Rizla between my @r$e cheeks (I appreciate that you wouldn’t want to attempt the feat, but that’s irrelevant).

My point is, that whatever happens, there’s no reason to commit Hari Kari, (or Harry Carpenter if you’re a pugilist). They will still sell beer in Wealdstone, it’s still going to rain on Bank Holidays, James C@rd@n will still be a tvvat and there will still be mince pies at xmas.

So for goodness sake just chill out…….

……..aaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE MAKE THIS STOP!!!!!!

The Final (Season ) Countdown .
at 11:32 25 Apr 2024

I hope you're right! One thing for sure, there will be more tension in the ground at 3pm than in Gemma Collins knicker elastic.

Even worse for me, kick-off's not until 4pm here!

I don't buy it that Crewe will be content with a draw. A good win will possibly secure them home advantage in the play-offs. So if they sense rabbits in the headlights, they may look to fill their boots.

I see Halifax have also suffered from shite pitch drainage. Having put on a spurt to get into the play-offs they fell at the first hurdle after playing 5 games in 12days.

With all the butt cheeks nipped so tightly together in the home end, it should be possible to fit three people to every two seats.

If the players can't decide it after 46 games may be it should be down to the fans?

Thankfully a punch up at South Mimms services is no longer acceptable, but what about something else?

We would be favourites at a pub quiz. The Surrey wannabies would be full of Tim-nice-but-Dim's.

Or if it's a pub, lets just drink them under the table! If we keep clear of their poncy artisan gin and fevertree, and stick to pints of Stella or Best, I recon we'd be 40/1 on to stay up (or possibly throw up)!

Last fans standing, takes all.

The more I think about this, the more is seems like a typical U's way of ending it all.

Obviously we are going to win on Saturday, but just considering something......

If we lose 0-2 and Sutton win 3-1, I think I’m correct in saying that we would both have 44 points and we would both have a goal difference of -23. Both games between us ended 1-1 and we will have both scored 58 goals.

How do they then decide who stays up? Presumably the toss of a coin? If so, when and by whom?

At least we’ve got a 50% chance of winning a toss-up!

PS there are other scores that give the same scenario, e.g. 0-1 and 3-0, or 1-2 and 4-1 etc.
