Reaction to Gorkss' sending off 20:47 - Feb 16 with 6875 views | WadR | Apologies if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but think it deserves its own thread. I was disappointed to see our fans reaction to Gorkss getting sent off, the booing and jeering of a player who was always good for us and seems like a nice guy. Last season, he didn't celebrate either time he scored against us last time either. It was a late challenge, but not particularly dangerous or malicious. Does purely getting sent off warrant such a reaction? From where I was sat, pretty close to the incident, it also looked like something was thrown at him from the crowd. Anyone else notice this?

Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 10:50 - Feb 17 by dodge_stoke_r | F##k Gorkss and f**k any other ex player that tips up Loftus Road. I cant believe fans that clap and cheer ex players. I suport Queens Park Rangers and the players in QPR shirts. When a player moves on he no longer gets my support. I'll bet the same people that clapped Gorkss where the same players that bood Zamora. Shit as he is, he is OUR player. |
Absolute toss. Gorkss has done more for this Club than Zamora, Toilett and 95% of our current squad ever will do. I clapped him off the pitch as though it was a bad tackle I didn't think it was malicious, and as an attempt to drown out the pure d!ckhead 'w@nker' chants aimed his way.

I should think he did. It was after all his job! I didnt boo but i was out of my seat demanding a red as it was a truely shocking tackle. It was juat about the only thing the utterly useless ref got right all afternoon.

Not sure I understand the 1st part, it's also the current crop's job to play for the Club.. That ref was abysmal though wasn't he. How many times did he overrule his lino? And blowing for a Reading free kick any time any of our strikers had the temerity to jump for the ball!?!

Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 14:22 - Feb 17 with 1299 views | smegma | At the time i thought it was harsh. Having seen a slo-mo replay a minute later i still think it was harsh. But then, its about opinions. Even a load of Reading fans are split 50/50 like we are on their forum.
Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 19:23 - Feb 17 with 1265 views | derbyhoop | It was right in front of me and absolutely nailed on red card. You cannot jump into 2 footed tackles. You're out of control and it's dangerous. In some respects it showed why we were right to get rid of him. When the ball went loose he was 70/30 favourite for it and still got there late. I think the reaction of the crowd was due to his and the Reading team's reluctance to accept the decision. And being 3-1 down didn't lighten the mood.

Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 19:49 - Feb 17 with 1251 views | VancouverHoop | The way the game is interpreted today it was a red card. Whether it should be interpreted that way is another issue. It's interesting. Talking to others my age in the wake of Tom Finney's passing, many commentators noted that he never received a booking, as if that was remarkable. In fact it was pretty common. Stanley Matthews played nearly 700 games without a booking, wingers never got cautioned, they got fouled instead. Conversely full backs would get booked, but never fouled. A sending off used to be really rare. The first I remember (it's possible there are one or two in non-league I've forgotten) was Terry Neill when he was player-manager of Hull. He totally lost it it, kicking over the physio's bench on the way the the dressing room, which was under the Ellerslie stand then. Thing is I was about 22 then and been watching football regularly for about ten years. Like I said an uncommon thing. Back then Gorkss's red probably wouldn't have merited even a word from the ref. I'm not making a case one way or t'other. Players represent more of an investment today, so protecting them from injury is in their club's interest. The game is far faster too, so there's less chance of avoiding bad tackles. OTOH, you didn't see the flagrant diving and embellishment you do today.

Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 01:01 - Feb 17 by SonofNorfolt | Having seen it since, it was never a straight red. When I realised it was Gorkss, I changed my tune and clapped him off. Apparently he was gutted to leave, and rightly so, replaced by a player who in all my spectating years, is the player most ill at ease with the ball at his feet, Gabbidon. How short our memories are? |
I was near where it happened and my immediate reaction was that it wasn't a red. Having seen it again I still don't think it was a red.

Reaction to Gorkss' sending off on 08:41 - Feb 18 with 1149 views | spencer | Amazing. Two posters above..both sat in front...both with different views. I thought def red from where i was sitting, so you can see why the ref did same. Having seen replay, not 100% sure. The lino should have been directly in front and would have had the best view - but he was a tosser. Interesting to see what the appeal brings. As for the players not accepting...do they ever on any decision...I got the ball ref...giving the international sign of the ball with their hands. Yep you sure did...just went via the players legs first !!
