Newcastle paid 12m for Mitrovic, but yeah I agree someone would have signed Gomis by now if such a clause existed.

And besides, although he's signed on a free we'll end up paying £ 8 million on signing in fees, wages and bonuses. Who in their right mind would allow a release clause for less? Surely it would have to be circa £15 million???

This supposed buyout clause has been bought up on here before. Be very surprised if there's one at £7m as they'd want to recoup the large signing on fee and some of the wages.
