Cheap Van Rental/Borrow 11:07 - Feb 20 with 1870 viewsjack_lord

Morning, anyone know of cheap van rentals or has a van. Wife has bought a headboard on line and it turns out it won't fit in car.
Person wants it picked asap :(

If you hire on a Saturday, you generally have to do a weekend hire, so looking at £75/100.

I normally use Andy Davey in Killay or Brisco in Gorseinon.

If it's located reasonably close to your home hire a 7 seater taxi, but let the firm know beforehand the purpose of the journey. 99% of drivers will be more than happy to do it and depending on distance will save you a fortune over hiring a van just for that

The headboard is just outside Cardiff so that makes an expensive but decent idea.

If you can't get someone to lend a van, I would make enquires to a courier service, to see how much they would charge for collection/ delivery, I would imagine it would be less hassle than hiring a van, cost of petrol, time ect..

Try these; https://www.shiply.com/

I've used them a few times now for larger items and they work out very economical. You describe the item and the pick-up/drop-off point. Couriers then bid for the job.

That's a cool site. I wouldn't mind buying a van and bidding for some of those.

That one is good to know if you are going to be a short time. It works out at £15 an hour. We would probably take about two hours.

Surely the courier route is the better option? I would imagine you would have to replace the fuel with B and Q as well..

The courier option is good. They provide a great service. We bought something that wasn't quite right and couldn't fit in the car so we had an added expense. The courier serice can bid for business (and we will need this service again in a few weeks) or we can look for alternatives. My tenant has offered her van which is great and now sorted. If it was not I would have gone for the courier service.
