Clement shyte

Take nothing from Carlos though. He seems to have spotted what needed changing, improved confidence and is fitting round pegs in round holes

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."

Clement was too afraid to lose and his negativity rubbed off on the players

Whereas carlos the jackal is the total opposite

it's a tough one, PC had us defending as well as we are now but without the pressing and attacking at pace on the counter. Without that we were constantly under pressure for 90 mins which inevitably led to defeat after defeat

Carlos is an experienced manager Clement was not.
Neither have had much support from our DOF. Carlos can cope with it (so far) whereas Clement could not.

It was always going to be a struggle having your 2 best players sold on you but it was almost like PC gave up there & then, his negative aura from the opening day was like a foul, lingering smell and the less said about his team selections & tactics the better.

Think he deserves a bit more respect for keeping us up than he's got from certain sections though.

As for Carlos to call him a genius would be to do him a disservice at the rate he's going Renato Sanches will be world class within 6 weeks.

Clement was shyte. 100%.

We had no plan under Clement...we did not play :

Pressing
Counter
Posession
Aggressive

Nothing....we just plodded everygame until we conceded a goal then started playing.

The way our players have improved...we dont really need new signings either.

In retrospect it was clear that Clement relied solely on the combination of Llorente-Sigurdsson-Carroll/Olssen to get the goals with a bit of Mawson sprinkled on top. As soon as the first two were sold and no replacement came in for Glyfi he was completely out of ideas. He thought Sanches would be a world beater but alas he was not. Clement never feared for his position and his stagnation cost us big.

Carlos found another way. More importantly he didn't just drop anyone into the cold. The only person who came close was Mesa and that was because negotiation with Sevilla came into play. He's worked hard on the likes of Ayew/Clucas/Sanches and we've seen such a huge upturn from these players. He's also such a positive breath of fresh air.

Our second goal neatly illustrates the differences in our approach under Clement and Carvalhal.

Three Swans players in the Arsenal box pressurising their defence and keeper into making a mistake. Under Clement the closest Swans player would probably have been 30 yards away scurrying back into "shape".

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Would be interesting to see the distance covered stats between both managers. We seem so much more energetic in midfield, closing players down, making tackles etc.

Clement was an absolute disaster this season, still think we could rue not getting shot 6 weeks earlier.

Should have gone earlier but we have a great chance now.

4 weeks ago I thought we were 80% down

Now I would say its 60 / 40 in our favour

Don't agree with that. . If we get any more injuries we will be decimated. We need to strengthen.
Carlos and our team deserves our full support and that of his DOF.
Clement was an inexperienced manager who could not see a way forward with a squad he saw as imbalanced. Not just him. The vast majority on here could see the problem looming before last season even started.
Thank heavens we now appear to have someone experienced enough make the most of what we have. We ain't going to do it without support in the transfer market however imho.

Clement was a massive disappointment this year.

He's clearly a capable coach and organiser, but he needs to realise that teams have to do more than just maintain shape. He had the players to do better than he did, that much is becoming increasingly obvious.

Until he realises that it's not enough just to relentlessly drill teams into holding position, that occasionally you have to take risks, he'll always be a backup guy.

Apart from the top 5 - we are the side in top form in the whole of the division, 10 points out of 15.

In answer to the original question, neither.

Clement has coached top clubs, by definition has worked with the best managers and players but he's too rigid and far too defensively minded to be a manager, a good one. Good managers can vary the way their team play, depending on the opposition.

Carvalhal has taken the shackles off and restored player confidence, he's been a breath of fresh air. Players are getting forward much more now but also playing with a greater hunger and intensity without the ball too.

Some bookies were giving 50/1 odds on a Swans double over Liverpool and Asrenal and there wouldn't be many takers. Two incredible wins albeit Arsenal aren't the team they were.
