Week 5 Results

ACCRINGTON 2 ROCHDALE 1

Accrington came from behind as they finally recorded a victory over a Rochdale team that had won the last 6 games between the sides. A massive 9 got this spot-on, in what was equally the most predicted score this week, and a further 13 had the outcome.

PLYMOUTH 2 BURTON 0
Plymouth bounced back from their first League One defeat of the season at Hull last weekend with a comfortably victory. 5 had this spot-on, and another 18 got the outcome, with 9 going for a 1-0 in what was the weeks other most predicted score.

PORTSMOUTH 2 MK DONS 1
Portsmouth picked up their first home league win of the season. A magnificent 7 got this spot-on, and a further 18 had the outcome.

CAMBRIDGE UNITED 2 NEWPORT 1
Newport were knocked off top spot in League Two as Paul Mullin's double saw them lose at Cambridge. 4 had this spot-on, and another 8 got the outcome.

OLDHAM 2 MORECAMBE 3
Morecambe climbed to the top of League Two courtesy of a deserved victory at struggling Oldham. Nobody got this spot-on, but 11 did have the outcome.

SALFORD 2 TRANMERE 2
Tranmere produced a stunning late fightback with two goals in the last 4 minutes to earn a draw. Those late goals were good news for Blue4U2 as he did well to be the only one to have this spot-on, and 4 more got the outcome. 19 predicted a win for Salford.

SCUNTHORPE 1 FOREST GREEN 4
Jamille Matt struck a stylish hat-trick to inspire Forest Green to victory. Nobody got this spot-on, though 11 did have the outcome.

It is good to report that no games were lost to the virus this week, even though it was a reduced fixture list in the EFL. The big talking point in the past week continues to be about getting fans back into stadiums, and even though a petition is approaching 200,00 people, with cases of the virus rising, it is not likely to happen anytime soon. What is frustrating is that despite the cases rising, indoor venues - that are far more at risk - continue to open, with ten given the okay to hold pantomime's.

First of all thank you everyone for doing your predictions and keeping the 100% record going for the season. After last week produced the worst 10 game week for over a year, we hit back in a big way this week with the 7 games having 26 spot-ons, and an overall total of 161 points. Just to show how good it was, in the 5 seasons I have been administrated the Happy League the most any 6 game week has achieved is 149 points. I was reading that home advantage is worth 0.5 of a goal, and playing behind closed doors loses that advantage. Even though the Happy League only has a small percentage of the overall fixtures, there is no evidence from them so far that it has made any difference, with the 42 games producing 19 home wins, 8 draws and 14 away wins. Very much in line with previous seasons. With three 2-1's this week that has now become the top result this season with six. Due to not feeling too well blueeagle decided to go 2-1 all games, and I hope he is feeling a bit better now after the wins for Accrington, Portsmouth and Cambridge together with one outcome made him this weeks top scorer with a brilliant 10 points. Tranmere's 93rd minute equaliser robbed him of a fourth 3 pointer. Seven members did well to have two 3 pointers, of which the best came from burnsieespana and oxfcolu who both had the wins for Accrington and Plymouth, and three outcomes each to give them an excellent 9 points.

In the Premier An impressive 6 outcomes for TheFatGooner was enough to keep him top. Those 6 points were matched by thrillseeker, thanks to having the Accrington 2-1 spot-on, and he remains second. Back into the final Charity Shield spot is mfb_cufc after he had 5 outcomes. With three members in the bottom half Blue4U2, Sector4 and RSCOSWORTH getting two 3 pointers, the division has become even more closer, with only 5 points separating the Charity Shield places from the relegation spots.

In Division One Another 7 points, that included having the Cambridge 2-1 spot-on, keeps ghughes11 above that average of a point a game, and increases his lead to a decent 8 points. Back up into the other automatic spot is wessex_exile, after he had the wins for Portsmouth and Plymouth spot-on. Dropping a place on the most 3 pointer rule is concordman. Getting the wins for Accrington and Portsmouth spot-on helped move unitedwhites back up a place. The top scoring effort from blueeagle takes him back into a play-off place. The final play-off spot is held by oxfcolu, who despite his good week, remains sixth. Someone who did benefit from his good week was burnsieespana, and he moves up four places. Going that number of places the other way is medicine_man, who came up short by going for a draw all games. Further down the league decent weeks for BFG and Lewis_1 moves them both up three places.

THE TABLES (42 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
