Something that hasn't been mentioned and is not so obvious to the average supporter is that Colchester United is one of many companies in a group of companies owned by RC and that means that if his accountant does their job properly, Colchester United's 'losses' are offset against the profits of the other companies, reducing the group's tax bill. If the other companies in the group aren't making as much profit at the moment, then Colchester United is becoming a hole in the pocket for RC. Otherwise, in a normal year, I expect for a multimillionaire, Colchester United hits the pocket as much as a golf club membership does to your typical small businessman... or a season ticket does to your average supporter! | |
