Happy League 2021/22 Week 38 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 23rd April 15.00 19:51 - Apr 16 with 2658 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 37 results

BIRMINGHAM CITY 2 COVENTRY CITY 4

Coventry came from 2-0 down to seal a crucial win in their hunt for a Championship play-off place. Nobody got this spot-on, but 10 did have the outcome.

SWANSEA CITY 1 BARNSLEY 1
Barnsley squandered the opportunity to revive their ailing hopes of avoiding relegation as they drew from a winning position. Again nobody had this spot-on, and only burnsieespana got the outcome. 23 predicted a win for Swansea, with 13 going for a 2-0 in what was equally the weeks most predicted score.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION 2 BLACKPOOL 1
Karlan Grant got a 93rd minute winner for West Brom to keep their slim play-off hopes alive. That late goal was good news for the 9 who got this spot-on, and the 12 who had the outcome.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC 2 MORECAMBE 3
Arthur Gnahoua's double helped Morecambe secure a win that gives their League One survival hopes a boost. Another game with no 3 pointer, and only burnsieespana and Lewis_1 got the outcome. 23 predicted a win for Charlton.

CHELTENHAM TOWN 2 GILLINGHAM 2
Gillingham picked up a vital point in their battle to avoid relegation, after twice taking the lead only for Cheltenham to peg them back each time. Yet another game with no 3 pointer, though 7 did have the outcome.

WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 0
Garath McCleary's first-half double lifted Wycombe into the League One play-off places with this win, and made it nine games unbeaten. Well done to noah4x4 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 8 got the outcome.

EXETER CITY 2 COLCHESTER UNITED 0
Exeter took another step towards automatic promotion from League Two with this comfortable victory. A far from unlucky 13 got this spot-on, in what was the other most predicted score this week, and another 6 had the outcome.

HARROGATE TOWN 1 SWINDON TOWN 4
Swindon offered a timely reminder of their play-off credentials as Louie Barry and Josh Davison both bagged braces in this thumping win. Yet another game with no 3 pointer, but 15 did get the outcome.

LEYTON ORIENT 3 SCUNTHORPE UNITED 0
Scunthorpe's 72-year spell in the English Football League will come to an end as this loss confirmed their relegation from League Two. A sublime 5 got this spot-on, and a further 20 had the outcome.

NEWPORT COUNTY 1 CRAWLEY TOWN 2
Newport dropped out of the play-off places after a third successive home defeat. No points for anybody from this game, as 24 predicted a win for Newport.

ROTHERHAM UNITED 1 IPSWICH TOWN 0
Rotherham got their bid to win automatic promotion from League One back on track after scoring late and end a run of three successive defeats. 6 got this spot-on, and another 11 had the outcome.

A real mixed bag of results in this pernultimite week of the season, with six games failing to have a 3 pointer, but the five that did, more than made up for it by getting 34 in total. Considering the small number of games having a 3 pointer, it was a great effort from noah4x4 to get four, the wins for West Brom, Wycombe, Exeter and Rotherham, and also two outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer with a brilliant 14 points. Two members did weel to have three 3 pointers, they were medicine_man and wessex_exile. They both got the wins for West Brom, Exeter and Orient, with the former having three outcomes to give him an excellent 12 points, and the latter getting two outcomes to give him an excellent 11 points. Six members got two 3 pointers, the best of which came from thrillseeker, who had the wins for West Brom and Exeter, and oxfcolu, who got the wins for Exeter and Rotherham. They both also had four outcomes to give them a superb 10 points.

Super Cup With just one week left to the season, here is a reminder on how this replacement competition for the Charity Shield is going work.

(1) Premier Champion v Happy Cup Winner
(2) Premier Runner-up v Premier 3rd
(3) Division One Champion v Happy Midweek League Cup Winner
(4) Division One Runner-up v Premier 4th

The Semi-Finals draw will be:-

Winner 1 v Winner 2
Winner 3 v Winner 4

The Happy Cup winner was concordman, and as he will finish in the top four of the Premier, the Happy Cup runner-up mfb_cufc will qualify. In the Happy Midweek League Cup, with the final being played on Easter Monday, if the winner is ghughes11, and he finishes in the top four of the Premier, then runner-up burnsieespana will qualify.

In the Premier The top two both got the Exeter 2-0 spot-on, but with an impressive six outcomes concordman increases his lead over TheFatGooner to what is a decent 7 points, with only 10 games to go.in the season. Another to get the Exeter 2-0 spot-on, and an impressive six outcomes, was RSCOSWORTH, and he moves back to third. Only four outcomes for ghughes11, and he drops back to the final Super Cup place. He has spent most of the season in a fight against relegation, but a seasons best score has propelled noah4x4 up to fifth, and wthin 4 points of that Super Cup qualification. At the bottom, an unfortunate missed week for basher2010 left the door open for those in the relegation spots to escape, and Daniel did just that, thanks to having the wins for Exeter and Rotherham spot-on. A missed week for Blue4U2 has sealed his fate, and it is probably any two from three who joins him.

In Division One This league has been incredible all season, and it is going to carry on right down to the final game. Thanks to getting the Rotherham 1-0 spot-on, BFG regained the lead he had lost on Good Friday, but is only by a point from wessex_exile, who moved up three places to claim the other automatic spot, but only on the first to post rule from thrillseeker, who remains third. It would not be hard to predict the tie-breaker rules having a big impact in deciding the automatic places. Even though he had to settle for only getting outcomes, last weeks second blueeagle is still very much in contention for a top two finish, only 3 points back in fourth. After spending the last 20 weeks in the top 5 Tropical_Us is still looking good for a play-off place in fifth. The final play-off spot is till ocupied by burnsieespana, after he had the wins for Orient and Rotherham spot-on. Only Lewis_1 and MrHappy2 in seventh and eighth have a realistic chance of breaking into the top six. A special mention for bwildered, as another decent week took him up another two places to ninth. This is the highest he has been since Week 7.

THE TABLES (270 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 38 Fixtures With promotion and relegation issues still to be decided in this final week, a reminder of the rule for a 10 game week. No more than four predictions the same as your nearest rival/s please

Didn’t a similar thing happen with us a few seasons ago? They told the fans the game was abandoned but later on the players reappeared and played out the remaining minutes. Can’t remember who it was against though.

We were, but we couldn't get promotion and Orient were already relegated, so the last 7 minutes were literally played at a walking pace, just passing the ball around both teams. This time it doesn't make any sense, there were 11 minutes plus injury-time to play, Oldham losing 2-1, and they needed a goal (or two) to at least stave off relegation for now - not to mention Salford's play-off aspirations. I've read elsewhere it was finished behind closed doors, but nothing showing on the BBC website as yet.

Edit: TS posted whilst I was writing this.

We were also involved when Doncaster lost their league status.
We won 1-0 at Belle Vue after three pitch invasions by the Doncaster supporters including a "funeral procession" with coffin and RIP banners.
Attendance was all ticket and limited to 2,500.
