The Central League 05:53 - Aug 6 with 4908 viewsspell_chekker

We're supposed to be entering a reserve team this year.

I can't find a fixtue list but PNE (the current champions) have published theirs.

We're playing them away on Tuesday 27th September at 2p.m. and at home on Tuesday 24th January at 1p.m.

It looks like the season is starting on 23rd August.

The next match is in 2 weeks. Away at Fleetwood (Poolfoot) in the cup.

Cheers for the info.

I've updated the fixture list although I wouldn't be surprised if they call it off again at the last minute quicker than you can say "Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink".

I'd wager that some of the staring line up are players we want to either sell or loan out.

Virtue, Hamilton and Lubala ... even Thorniley?????

Maybe trying to find loans for the development squad players.

It'd seem to be a bit small minded on the part of Fleetwood.

It looks as thought today's match at Fleetwood was a league match and not a cup match as originally advertised.

It was nice to be kept up-to-date on this matter.

Development Squad Report: Fleetwood Town 1 Blackpool 2

Blackpool secured three points in the Central League Cup on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town.

Sonny Carey's second half brace proved the difference, as Blackpool fielded a strong side containing several first-team players.

It was an even start to the game, as both Fleetwood and Blackpool had opportunities on goal. CJ Hamilton was doing well on the flank, using his blistering pace, and got in behind on 20 minutes, but his cross into the mix found no one.

At the other end, Chris Conn-Clarke had half a chance on goal for Fleetwood after a cross into the area, but his first touch let him down and Blackpool were able to clear it away.

The opening 45 minutes was proving to be a quiet affair, but both sides hit the side netting in the final few moments. First, Fleetwood thought they were in when Cian Hayes found the ball in the area, but his strike went wide.

Moments later, it was Blackpool's turn, as Ian Poveda did well to get in on goal with some good trickery, but his strike from a tight angle hit the side netting.

A quiet opening half at Poolfoot Farm ultimately ended goalless.

Half-time: Fleetwood Town 0 Blackpool 0

It was a lively start to the second half, as all three goals were scored in the first 15 minutes.

Sonny Carey's decisive brace started on 50 minutes, as his strike from distance was curled beautifully around a defender and the goalkeeper to nestle into the corner to break the deadlock.

With their tails up, Pool extended their lead further five minutes later as some good build-up play found Carey with the ball at his feet in the area. With his back to goal, the midfielder did well to turn and shoot, with his strike coming off the woodwork and going over the line.

Owen Moffat then hit the bar minutes later, as Pool went for the juggular, but the strike from distance bounced clear.

Fleetwood were shell shocked by Carey's two quick fire strikes, but pulled one back on the hour mark through Chris Conn-Clarke.

Despite some late pressure, Blackpool were able to hold on to secure a good win in the Central League Cup group stage once again.

Full-time: Fleetwood Town 1 Blackpool 2
Starting XI: S Moore, J Moore, Trusty, Squires, Garbutt, Ward, Carey (Mariette 61'), Poveda (Francis 61'), Emmerson, Hamilton (Holmes 61').
Subs Not Used: Cunningham, Lankshear.

Development Squad Draw 3-3 At Accrington

The Development Squad fought back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Accrington in the Central League this afternoon.

Stephen Dobbie’s side found themselves two goals down inside the first 10 minutes, with Touray Sisay and Korede Adedoyin putting Stanley in command.

However, the hosts’ captain, Harry Perritt, was sent off for handball and that allowed Brad Holmes to step up from the spot and reduce the deficit.

Accrington quickly restored their two-goal advantage though when Jack Nolan turned in a cross from Adedoyin.

Joe Strawn responded for the Seasiders, firing in from a tight angle to cut the gap once again and leave the score at 3-2 at half-time.

Blackpool equalised shortly after the interval when Will Squires levelled matters from a corner, while Luke Mariette had a late chance to win the match with a strike from distance, only to be denied by a great save from Liam Isherwood.
