Well, the money markets didn't like the mini budget. I met Liz Truss in a hotel in Monmouth a few years ago. She said her solution to pensioner poverty would be to feed them on Pedigree Chum. Not only would this save a lot of money, it would give them shiny coats and a nice cold nose.
They are destroying small businesses and the middle classes right before our very eyes, and using Covid, Ukraine, etc, etc as an illusionary and diversionary tactic so to avoid mass òutrage and large scale riots whilst they do so. The public continue to believe the narrative. Ďear oh dear
'The public continue to believe the narrative. ÄŽear oh dear'
Thats it tho the Beast, we don't!... Look at the opinion polls
The public did support the Government on their Covid and Ukraine policies. They just did'nt realise the consequences.
it should have been made clear at the time!... If you get a bridging loan it has to be paid back at some point. Everyone knows that (well maybe the PM doesn't?)... We all need to make sacrifices, pull together and support the poorest and most vulnerable (complete opposite of the mini budget). I'm fully behind the support of the Ukrainian people in trying to defend themselves but it obviously comes at a cost. It looks like Hunt has been given the unenviable task of telling the truth ... the Truss/Kwazi gamble has failed spectacularly and its up to EVERYONE to pick up the pieces. We need to become a leaner, less wasteful, more caring society... We need a proper leader at the top! time for Truss to move on asap
Struggling to make ends meet? Wondering how you'll afford the energy bills? Well, the easy solution is to spent £10-20k on solar panels that'll take decades to break even. Voila.... reduced monthly bills. Bloomin' plebs can't even work out something that simple.
The ROI on a PV system, for me, went from 19 years in Jan 2022 to currently just over seven years, I expect that to drop again in April 2023. Best £12k I ever spent. I am currently running at 17% grid usage for this year.

Perhaps read some news that isn't just western propaganda pushing its own narrative (lies), then see if you still feel the same. They talk about making cuts and sacrifices. The first cut should be completely cutting the military spending on supplying weapons to Ukraine. The whole world should be demanding that it stops, and stops NOW, whilst at the same time demanding talks not weapons.
Following which the US should be made the pariahs of the world. The trouble the US continually causes across the globe, year after year after year, invading countries and installing puppet govts everywhere, really boils my p!ss.

And, unbelievably, the majority still support the policies!! Guess than shows by 1% own all the power and wealth, because the other 99% are just gullible idiots
Don't fret about governments providing weapons "aid" to war torn countries. The equipment gets flogged off and the proceeds end up back in the country of origin where it fuels amongst other things the property market. Money laundering at its finest. And that also goes for Foreign Aid.

there is a separate Ukraine thread... but if you believe that Ukraine should not exist as an independent sovereign state then fair enough ... btw I'm not going to reply to any reply you give (as mentioned the Ukraine thread is out there somewhere).

Bit disrespectful to call others ‘gullible idiots’ while talking about WEF conspiracy theories and using VPN’s to access non western news which btw is freely available online (unless you live in Russia, North Korea etc).
Not looking to get into a debate about Covid, Ukraine, WEF etc. It’s been done to death on here and Clive’s mate his thoughts clear. But there’s no need to insult people because they don’t subscribe to your world view.

This isn't true actually, and this should give you some pause for thought, here's an example: RT is not only censored by Twitter, but also your ISP. Try and view RT.com and see how you get on. We seem to be under a delusion here in 'the West' that we have free access to all forms of information outside of the mainstream providers. We don't. For a start, if you're using Google, then your search results are highly curated. Of course, it's far better here than in China, but for how long?

Surely it’s all relative. I’m not surprised that Russian state media is banned given that it’s blatant propaganda. But I would wager that we have access to a lot more information and different view points online than your average person in Russia or China.
Anyway, i don’t want to get drawn into a lengthy back and forth. I’ve made my point re Beast calling others ‘gullible idiots’ and I’ll park it there.

Latest bit of Truss chaos... at least its not a U turn this time

RT isn't news, it's state sponsored lies and propaganda from a state currently conducting a murderous campaign of terror against a neighbour.

RT is no more state propaganda than the BBC is.
And both you and Vain have missed the point: we do not have free access to whatever information we choose to view; big tech, social media platforms and Western governments collude to curate and censor what you can and can't see. It may be better than China, but it's still nowhere near free.

I'm able to access the RT website on my phone on Chrome while connected to wifi, as I am the BBC website. Not sure how you've managed to be blocked from the RT website.

Interesting. And you're not going through a VPN? I can't view rt.com on my phone, using either chrome or firefox, via ISP or mobile data, same with my laptop. Nor is it available on my TV. And it is a fact that it has been blocked in the UK, so I'm not sure how you're able to view it if you're in the UK and not using a VPN.

Sorry, it's not aimed at anyone in particular. It's the 99% (and I include myself in that) as a collective. If we weren't gullible idiots then we wouldn't be in the 99% that own little (on the scheme of things) and there wouldn't be a 1% who own pretty much all the power and wealth on the planet. So I maintain that the 99% (including myself) are gullible idiots for allowing it all to happen by believing their lies.
As someone else said above, everything is taken from us from right in front of our noses and we can't even see it because we allow ourselves to be fed rubbish that we then believe as the truth.
Back on point, a hell of a lot of people are going to struggle over the next 12 - 24 months, and it certainly isn't Russia's fault.....

I'm on the works wifi, so I don't know. I'll try from home later.
I was curious to see what message it would come up with but the website just opened for me.

I promise this is my last Ukraine post on the wrong thread!
The Beeb is far from perfect but this is their report on the latest from the Donetsk region...
This chap (who has now fled Russia) has managed to source some Russian media/tv reports (TV exerts start at 4:45)... I'm no expert but there appears to be a different approach to BBC and Russian reporting???

There's plenty to be concerned about in the UK: criminalisation of protest and dissent, government bullying of media and the judiciary, corrupt and dark money at the highest levels...but calling equivalence between the BBC and RT is simply laughable, that's not a sensible conversation in any way.

It's only laughable if you have no idea of your inherent bias towards the institution that you've known and trusted all your life. If, on the other hand, you've studied the whole spectrum of media, including RT since its inception, and measured them all against each other over many years, weighing their respective stances on any given subject, that you can see just how biased each one is; and the BBC is as culpable in mis or disinformation as any other state news organisation, in not only what it chooses to highlight, but what it chooses to leave out. Having worked for BBC news for over 3 and a half years (1998-2001) I experienced that at first hand. Having seen its at times incredible bias towards things I actually know personally to be different or untrue, I am under no illusions about the BBC, any more than I am about RT. And over the years, I have found RT to often be more reliable than the BBC when it comes to UK and global affairs.
