The interview had already started when I put it on.
He said he’s very happy with how it’s going, but let’s see where we are in March.
He said Mark (Warburton) had laid the groundwork with the team, and he’s gone from there.
Graeme Souness asked him how he ended up at QPR. He said his interview was with the four owners. He asked them lots of questions as well as being asked loads. He said things in the interview regarding the playing squad, and that he knew what was needed on top of that.
He said he still regularly speaks to Steven Gerrard, and they wish each other luck before games.
He also said his time at Chelsea and Liverpool was invaluable, and it’s helped him in his coaching career.

This is a poor take IMHO. We lost key players to injury during that period and I'm sure if Willock and Dieng stayed fit we'd have made the playoffs. Things were unravelling behind the scenes a bit too though.
To say anything other than Warburton did a very good job here would be extremely unfair. Even Beale acknowldegdes that.
It is fantastic that we found Beale, but at the time Warburton left neither we or the club knew that we would be able to find someone that good. As recently as a few weeks ago the keyboard warriors were questioning Beale. | | | |

Just reflecting on Beale being an excellent appointment and agreeing the board deserves credit for it
A lot of our fan base got hysterical for the last few games after it was announced Warburton wasn't staying.
We were still on a good track and developing but the needless and unjustified hysteria of some of our fan base threatened to destabilise that. The board did well to see what those moaners couldn't see. Warburton going was the right thing
Just nice to know those moaners are now proven wrong so we don't need to worry about them knocking us off course and we instead we now are in a good place with Beale | | | |

I'd say those keyboard warriors were highly correlated with those moaning when Warburton was leaving. Wanting to be proven right on that
If you made a league table for Feb to May we were 23rd weren't we.
For me there is no way we can justify that. Warburton's rigid approach. Seemingly dragging the team into a shell as the pressure of a promotion push grew on him
He did crazy things like playing Willock at left wing back. Always just sticking rigidly to the 3-5-2. Yes in game changes are easier to make this year, with 5 subs, but between games much of the fan base were realising it was going flat. Needed rotation and try a new shape
I remember standing at Coventry watching us get battered basically and we nicked a winner through Adomah. In hindsight think that did more harm then good that win. Warburton thought if we just stayed in games we would nick enough points to get in playoffs. But it didn't suit us and sent us crashing.
Amos so brilliant against Reading. His energy a clear plus in a team where the midfield core were looking tired. Doesn't get much of a kick for weeks after. While Hendricks and Johansen slow or tired legs left us struggling
We saw it coming and Warburton increasingly spikey and struggling with the pressure. Snipped and snapped back at the fan base. Instead of building a camaraderie and momentum and optimism in the fan base as he should have been. So often he would patronise imply his critics didn't have a clue but we could see the direction things were heading before he did

A better manager would have halted that slide before it even got going. Yes Willock missed 9 games for Warburton through injury. He's missed 5 games for Beale so far as well
But things were going bad for Warburton a long time before Willock got injured and there is no way you can say it justified us dropping into a three month period of relegation form
There was an element of risk in making that change. But to really get anywhere in life at times you need to back your judgment and take a risk. There was a big interview process. A lot of people to pick from and the board have been proven right and those Remainers (talking in the context of Warburton remaining here) caution was proven wrong [Post edited 11 Oct 2022 12:08]

To my mind there are not many better than Warburton for re setting a club from basics. He's done that wherever he goes. He has also fallen out with owners at almost every job once he has achieved that goal. Beale is the ideal person to build on that and take it to the next level. |  | | |
