National League play off final. 15:17 - May 13 with 1113 viewsgerry_us

Spirerites v Notts County.
Hoping for a Spirerites win and a "Mrs Slocombe" disastrous day.
Durham will know...

Mrs Slocombe's feline never lets us down.

Extra time beckons.

A Desmond and it's like the Alamo out there.

Penalties beckon?

Notts County finishing the stronger

Mrs Slocombe not to be trusted with the penalties and has been replaced.

A risky move to swap the keeper but we will see.

Certainly an entertaining game.

Wonder what Mrs Slocombe thought of that decision. Takes some nerve to change keeper in those circumstances.
My daughter has just informed me that my ticket for Spirerites v U's was going to be my father's day pressie. Mmm. Nothing now?
I think Wessex was going to Wembley today so he and his mate will be gutted losing in that way. Nailed on promotion next season.

Mrs Slocombe would be like a cat on a hot tin roof!

Chesterfield seemed to fade during the extra time period.

The stand in keeper was the ultimate in gamesmanship for the penalties.

I must admit I would rather have seen the Spireites promoted.

Wrexham and Notts County will be contenders next season in what will be a tough and challenging league.

Afternoon chaps - I was indeed at Wembley with my Spireite mates yesterday. Great day out, Chesterfield definitely unlucky to lose, and even County supporters were admitting that after the game. Notts County could barely lay a glove on them first half, and only really started to dominate second half after Chesterfield began to sit back. But even then, it took a monstrous goal-keeping error to get their first equaliser, and their second was a freak mishit that somehow looped over the helpless goalkeeper. A shame really, because Dobra's second should have been a worthy winner, even if that was about the first time he'd been in the game.A small consolation, but they should at least be favourites for promotion next season. Funnily enough, the one team they're most worried about next season is Southend United, if the shrimps can get their sh1t together?

Pleased you enjoyed the day Wessex even if the result was perhaps not what we wanted.

Of course our fiends from Roots Hall are facing another winding up order, so they might yet be starting again like Darlington and Bury did more recently.

Wonder if this will mean will see Richard Brindley back at the Community Stadium for Notts County next season? Was really good for us and leaving for Barnet was a big mistake in my opinion. Feel like his agent didn't do him any favours there.
