FA Cup 18:46 - Feb 9 with 392 viewswessex_exile

I watched the Plymouth Liverpool game today. A few observations - Plymouth deserved it, and even though I have little time for them, I hope they get a decent draw next round. At one point I'm sure the commentators said it was a 13-14k sellout, but that couldn't be right, Home Park must be a much bigger stadium than that? However, the bit that made me really laugh is the pitch looked like a billiard table, and they described it as 'bobbly'. Heaven knows what they'd make of ours if that's the case.

Hi Wessex

I watched much of the game too.
I think Liverpool played too weak a team and frankly underperformed.

Capacity at Home Park now is 18,000.

The new stand was virtually open the last time I saw Colchester there and we lost to a controversial late goal when Plymouth took the throw in about 25 yards further forward than it should have been following a break in play.

Some big teams already out of the FA Cup.

Totally agree, Liverpool gambled on a second string, and it didn't pay off, and thanks for confirming the Home Park capacity, either I misheard or the commentators got that totally wrong. I remember that Home Park game too, I was there as well. It was a collision between the referee and a Plymouth player in the Plymouth half, and talk that he'd been knocked unconscious. Long delay, and eventually the referee was taken off on a stretcher. The 4th official took over and incorrectly awarded a throw-in to Plymouth deep in the U's half, from which they inevitably scored to win 2-1 - 29th October 2016, and covered under Letters from Wiltshire #29.

For Slot to argue that fielding a weakened team will pay dividends at the end of the season is frankly laughable. No Liverpool fan will see it like that. To give away the chance of the league and cup double shows a complete lack of understanding, and respect for, the traditions of the English game. The Emperor has no clothes.

So when does an FACup game become a Vertu cup game given the Liverpool side had on the pitch.
