Yep. The gap in quality is so huge between the two leagues making it impossible to survive. That's two years in a row that all three teams promoted are straight back down. 6 teams and none of them survive.

We might not be one of the biggest clubs unlike some of the rest, but one day you’ll see we will become the best.

There was an Ian Ladyman article in the paper last week saying that the Prem is now a 17 team division

A while ago you would generally just survive with 39 or 40 points. Now it could be as low as 26 just proving the rift is increasing between the leagues

Couple of facts proving that. 198 games played since start of 23/24 season for bottom 3 clubs and won only 23 games. This season alone has only been 23 wins from 84!

Trouble is we have loads of American owners
Who don't want promotion and relegation as in the NFL and therefore couldn't give a shit about the bottom

Some could beat the trend but boring now

In 2022, Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest were promoted. They are all top 10 Premier League teams now. Next year, who knows? Only last year, people were saying that Man City were certain to win the league again. They are now below Forest. Football really isn't that predictable. If it were, we could all make a fortune at the bookies.

In the first 25 years of this century, 14 different teams have won major honours and we might well get a 15th new one in the FA Cup this year, possibly one of those promoted teams.

That point was also made re Bright,Bmouth and Brentford etc but that was 3/4/5 years ago and now the tide is turning re promoted clubs

It will probably be Leeds, Sheff U and Burnley to come up, possibly only Leeds will stay up of those?

Let's see. But bottom line is the established clubs now will only get bigger and no doubt push for the ffp rules etc to be changed to suit their agenda

Does it have to be a massive gap or do the teams coming up need to be a bit ruthless? The three teams expected to come up all have managers who have previously bombed in the premier league. Saints should have thanked Martin last May and brought in a manager with more experience.

It can be done, look at Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton and Fulham. All good PL teams who were in the championship not so long ago, but all of them had a proper strategy, had decent recruitment and good managers.

The last paragraph sums it up perfectly, to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail. SR seem to embody that motto.

The 40 point level has now become the aim for the 3 promoted clubs combined.

And to reward Martin with a new 3 year contract in the summer.
This should of happened after 10 Premier League games to see if he was up to the job.
