Others here know Chesterfield better than me, but for me it's a case of whatever was there. Top pub - Derby Tup - quite near to football ground.
Colchester Cavaliers Cricket Club used to annually tour Chesterfield, Darley Dale and Chatsworth House. I usually kept wicket, but have the shame of twice bowling a single ball on the lawn of Chatsworth House and twice seeing it soar for a match winning six into the river against the Duke’s XI. My aggregate tour figures hence being 0.2, 0, 0, 12. The consolation was Hospitality in the (private) Chatsworth House Staff Club was second to none.
Least memorable experience, the 2025 Chesterfield FC lights show comprising of the plain (white) floodlights flickering on and off. No pattern, no unison, no entertainment. The U’s performance offered nothing better. |  | | |
