.....and occurring upon a day when U's have just one shot on target; yet we score two to win. That's pure genius Joe Dunne; .......energy saving goal scoring efficiency. But you had me fooled (I predicted a 0-1 win; and didn't ever see an O.G coming).

107 points as we approach Boxing Day, oh my. And that's without the help of double jokers and such.

Are you betting where your mouth is on these, Noah? because your picks would have earned some serious muney-roo's..

Nah; I have placed less than half a dozen bets in my lifetime; but I once did win £7,000 on a £2 accumulator during a corporate day at Bath races; whilst having no idea about any of my selections. After that success; I quit all forms of gambling given that the odds suggest I won't ever again be that lucky.

However; I do think that my HGPL success in this week reinforces what I said after my own Pick Ten week (where I deliberately selected all Division One Fixtures). A prediction league is much less of a lottery if we don't have 'jokers' or other gimmicks; and if we exclude European and/or non-league fixtures and similar unfamiliar selections.

I suspect that far more HGPL correct results/score predictions generally occur in respect of Division One fixtures because (as U's supporters); this division is our normal primary focus where we 'know their form' and don't just look a league table positions and/or pin stick. It's certainly been the case for me.

I feel the PL would be an altogether different proposition if all we focused on was League One. I mean, think about it.. That would get a bit monotonous, wouldn't it? Besides, that's never been the philosophy since Happy founded the PL, to keep a limited scope.

I would wager that the majority of PLers do in fact have a partial eye on the Prem and the Championship for one reason or another.

10 of every 22 fixtures are determined by the so-called electorate and it rarely reflects what might be more aptly renamed as the League One PL.

But point taken, Noah. Perhaps we can have a vote, to see if we should further eliminate the Prem and the Championship from the available picks. Well, I don't mean completely, but perhaps no more than 1 from the Prem, the Championship and 1 from L2 .. meaning a minimum of 50% from L1.. I don't actually have a problem with that.

Keep in mind, though, Happy has final say. I believe that for the most part our prediction leaguers are fine with the variety of fixtures.

You do however continue to nitpick from the top of the mountain. Am I the only one who finds that funny and ironic?

Pete (and Sir Happy);

....am still smarting from winning HGPL Division One; then winning the HGPL Euro-Champions League in the next season; then prevented from defending the latter because of my simultaneous relegation from HGPL Prem' (n.b. contrary to normal UEFA practice). So it is perhaps quite significant from upon which "mountain atop" that I moan.

More seriously; I do think we should focus the HGPL ONLY upon the Football League 72. The Premier League is now (IMHO) far too predictable as regards (1pt) results yet far too unpredictable as regards (3pt) all correct scores.

Everybody will predict a Manchester City Home win result; but nobody will hit 6-0 and 6-3 type all correct scores (3 points). These high scoring fiasco's are now occurring far too often given that all the money available for top player recruitment is concentrated in too few sides. I also think it is equally frustrating when we include stuff like 'Barrow v Solihull Moors' (who?) from the Conference North. It then becomes just pin-sticking exercise unless we spend considerable additional time doing research on teams that we have never heard about. The HGPL Euro-Champs league is perhaps different; as that should be a unique challenge demanding more extensive team and form research.

Perhaps the right way forward is to consistently have two picks from the Championship; Two from Division One and Two from Division Two in each 'Pick Six' - with the freedom to select Four extra fixtures for a 'Guest Pick Ten' from the FL72- but still no more than a total of four from any single division.

Maybe a sensible rule change for 2014-15?

Noah - with regard to your non-qualification for last season's Champions League, despite being the previous winner, you were actually offered first refusal for a no-show place, which you magnanimously declined. However, it is my intention to address that perceived wrong by allowing both the previous winner (MFB) and yourself to pre-qualify as former champions this season. Okay, so it looks like you'll both get in with ease, but that's the situation. Qualification will therefore be top 12 across both leagues on New Years Day, but excluding yourself and MFB who qualify automatically.
