Just back from New Year celebrations in darkest but enjoyable Durham, so a later write up than usual.
JD and MK will endeavour to start the New Year on a high note at the Broadfield Stadium.
Buoyed by new signings Jack Compton and George Porter, who although in the squad are unlikely to both start today, Colchester will look to end their disappointing run of results.
JD will be looking to maintain his attractive style of football and he has shown the courage to play a passing game, even after the disastrous result against Walsall.

Wright deservedly to keep his place with Marcus Bean influential in the middle of the park and tigerish Kem Izzet also back in the midfield.
A dimunitive but pacy strike force in Sears and Massey.
Expect both newcomers to play some role perhaps second half and dependent upon the scoreline.
Also wish O'Toole well in his first game for the Gas.

Gerry I have to say that this wretched run of results is testing everyone's faith in the U's.
The last time we lost 7 consecutive games we were relegated. I know I saw them all!!!!
We desperately need a striker, not only are we being comprehensively beaten but we are not scoring any goals.
Very difficult to see much light at the end of the tunnel.
May feel differently tomorrow but another defeat is hard to take.
