Her links with the Cup Final are surprisingly close....
Whilst she never performed it at Wembley, she made "Abide with me" a commecial hit in 1962, which was originally released on her album "You'll never walk alone". This was 12 months before Gerry and the Pacemakers released their version of the latter.
She was a pin-up of mine when I was a child, until I discovered Petula Clark and Susan Strachan (I can feel Durham stirring with mention of the latter).
