Friday night trivia time 19:03 - Mar 21 with 484 views | wessex_exile | If the reported ticket sales for tomorrow are correct (at least 21k, possibly more than 22k), it's pretty much a nailed-on certainty tomorrow will be the biggest Tier 4 attendance we've ever played in front of. So, some topical questions to ponder over whilst watching England v Albania. Q1 - name the four opponents that are currently ranked 1-4 in our attendance stats. One point for each, and a bonus point if you get them in the right order. Q2 - name the opponent for our lowest Tier 4 attendance (not including the Covid lockdown matches). Q3 - name the UK side that holds the record for a Tier 4 attendance. Bonus point for naming their opponent.

Jobserve Stadium or including Layer Road? If only Jobserve, my guess would be (I’ve not looked them up, so in spirit of quiz). Q1. Norwich City (10,064), Leeds Utd , Southampton, Bradford when in L1. If we include Layer Road, I guess 20,000 have crammed in for the Leeds FA Cup game. Q2. Salford City Q3. Bradford City or Portsmouth. [Post edited 22 Mar 6:02]

Q1 - home or away, and only in Tier 4 games (I.e the league). As a clue I can tell you they’re all away. Nil so far for the remainder.

I’ll give you a point for Q1, in fact I’ll give you two points, because Bradford currently hold the top two spots (soon to be three). The other two were back in 1962, one of whom quite surprised me, and the other team played their part in setting the all-time highest 4th tier attendance in England just a year earlier. And as another clue, that isn’t the answer to Q3. Not Salford - this team are on the other side of the country and are currently playing in the National League.

Not Palace, though you’re kind of on the right track for one of the Q1 answers. Q3 is a bit of a trick question if you don’t read it carefully. Nil for the rest I’m afraid, although fair play for Southport, they are actually our second lowest in 4th tier football. [Post edited 22 Mar 10:46]

Halifax are on the 4th tier league football sub-1k list twice, 989 in 1986 and 911 in 1987, but they're not the lowest. That was set in 1983 and we won 4-1.

Friday night trivia time on 14:44 - Mar 22 with 219 views | wessex_exile | As we've now got a game to focus on, here's the answers. Q1 - 4th tier highest league attendances 1st. Bradford City (a) 4/3/23 - 20,383 2nd. Bradford City (a) 12/8/23 - 17,177 3rd. Millwall (a) 17/3/62 - 16,585 4th. Wrexham (a) 28/4/62 - 16,190 (that one surprised me) Q2 - 4th tier lowest league attendance Hartlepool (a) 2/5/83 - 804 Q3 - 4th tier highest ever league attendance in the UK Rangers - 49,118. This was their first game at Ibrox following their demotion to the Scottish 3rd Division. Their opponents were East Stirling. Palace v Millwall in 1961 (37,774) is still the highest 4th tier attendance in English football.
