Probably more interesting than the real World Cup, England Veterans are currently taking part in the Seniors World Cup in Thailand.
It looks like there are four former U's in the England squad - Duguid, Cureton, Halford, and Luke Chambers.

I'd heard Duguid, Cureton and Halford were in the squad and that Chambers was a late addition. Was trying to find a bit more about in online yesterday but couldn't really find anything, even the Facebook page seems short on details. I'm guessing Chambers and Halford are both V40's, Duguid a V45 and Cureton a V50. If they have five year age gaps that is. |  |

Up the World Cup winning U's inspired England Veterans!
There seems to be very few "big names" in the veteran teams. Most of them seem to contain mainly former lower league players and some haven't ever played professionally. The World Cup winning team that contained Duguid, Halford, Chambers and Cureton also included Gareth Barry (53) and Lee Hendrie (1) who have 54 full England caps between them! | |
