Hoofroyd and his cobblers tonight

Now that JD has tasted defeat he has the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways at Sixfields this evening in the Johnson Paint Trophy.

Now one of the rules is that clubs must play at least six players from the previous match and so although it has been widely reported that JD is planning wholesale changes, they may not be quite as draconian.

Just as winning becomes infectious so do less positive results and therefore JD will not want to lose against Hoofroyd.

I expect the following line up:

Cousins

White Heath Eastman Rose

Hendo Bean Woody

Watt Morrison Sears

So the allowed maximum five changes with Wilson, Magnus, Eastmond, Ibehre and Massey all rested.

Subs from:

Pentney, Wilson, Coker, Izzet, Ibehre, Wright and Doogie

The Cobblers have no wins in four but this is a classic banana skin game and coming after Saturday’s disappointment, we do not want to go out early of a competition that we have never managed to win.

Saturday brings new challenges against Stevenage, tonight is the magic of the cup. JD wants a reaction and a result; it is up to the recalled players to step up to the plate.

Should he play a part tonight (last 20 minutes) the new fan’s favourite Jabo Ibehre could be greeted by the faithful with:

I'm hoping JD's passion makes us a real force in cup competitions. It's been a while since we had a run (again since Parky). Let's not forget that he got to visit Wembley twice with us as a player.

Think of the positives Durham. It's a pointless competition which only gets exciting in the final games. Some young'uns got a run out. Morrison will now miss some games.
