There is no end product, never has been. Once in a blue moon, or every nth game does not count. Amazed he’s still at the club and starting games at this level. Good for his pace and work rate, but little else. Use as an attacking sub when needing something different for last 20. |

Trouble is Burrell is not a second striker, as he plays on the shoulder as a 9, utilizing his biggest asset - his pace to get in behind as a goal threat and down the channels to stretch teams. Putting him in a withdrawn 10 role, you lose that danger, which is why Stefan has not been doing that. [Post edited 1 Feb 10:08]

Been watching these games for years. And unfortunately, there was no obvious standout. Unlike their number 10 England youth. And like we’ve had in the past with Kolli v Spurs, who was streets ahead of everyone else on the pitch. And that’s a concern, because if history tells me anything, you need to really stand out in these type of games if you are going to make it at first team level. |

Have you seen this guy try to cross a ball?
His technical ability is shocking. A good defender, yes, but he’s also hit and miss as he just jumps in and it’s 50/50.
In no way shape or form should the club be banking on this guy being our first choice right back. |

The idea that Kone is clearly “better than Dykes” is a real stretch so far.
Dykes - a player I did not rate - scored 12, 8, 8, 6 - with injuries in the championship. And was largely on course for 10 a season, barring injuries, which he had in some of those seasons. Kone is also on for 10 goals this season. So the jury is still out.
Personally, I’m yet to see a big improvement on Dykes. In fact, I’m seeing similar deficiencies in Kones game that Dykes was accused of. Especially, poor hold up play, oftentimes losing it, than keeping hold of it. Yet oddly capable of laying it off expertly, but on occasion (minority not majority). The exact same problem Dykes had as a target man.
The good news is Kone is younger and hopefully develops this part of his game. I suspect he will need to, because elsewhere, he appears slow, sluggish, and certainly not a runner. So, along with his goals (which the jury is out on) his hold up game is critical to his overall role in the team. |

Unwatchable dirge.
Several players major culprits as to why we can’t keep the ball and play actual football. Mbengue, Smyth, spring to mind, again and again, game after game. Kone also gives the ball away with alarming regularity.
Far too many players in this side / squad who are nowhere near good enough on the ball. |

Ok, fair enough. That said, I don’t see any of these as likely or probable. And neither do I think any of them are likely based on public information. But then maybe I am biased based on other info. Ferdinand was in favour and largely toed the Hoos line. The owners, have long been in favour. Hoos has been the outspoken one, and the leading / defining voice. It needed a new defining voice to get it over the line. Either way, we are now there. Which is fantastic. |

Possibilities yes. Because the only other possibility is that Lee Hoos championed this himself. Which doesn’t really add up based on known information. So, possibilities yes, probability likely no. |

He’s evidently not part of the decision as he is on record for staunchly opposing it. Unless he’s had a complete about turn, which would be very unlike Hoos.
Since the training ground was complete, absolutely nothing has stopped cat 1 application. We’ve been at Heston for over 2 years. So, why now? It’s a case of reading between the lines. |

He’s no doubt a finisher. But for me, his all round game is actually quite poor, at least currently . As a supposed hold up player, his hold and lay game is 50/50 at best.
Reminds me of Lyndon Dykes in that regard. One minute, it’s excellent. The next, it’s giving it away for fun / bouncing off him / failing to complete a simple lay off. That said, hes definitely got something to work with.
And he’s got ample time to grow at 22, as I’m sure he will, but his overall game and especially his failure to retain the ball, and his jogging-like closing down (almost half arsed at times), has increasingly grated. |

Some things cannot be divulged on here. However, by process of elimination, coupled with publicly available information as you stated, the answer as to who helped drive this - or at least get it over the line and make a concrete decision - is pretty obvious.

I’ve posted on here before about the plans for category 1. It’s been in the works for some time. But it’s fair to say Hoos was not a proponent of it. Owners always been willing. Nourry, with a different perspective, and likely data-driven, or analytical-backed (as the decision should be), has helped get this over the line. Rightly so… rather than Hoos’ wild entrenched opinion that so he so often doubled down on. (And was later proven wrong) |
