Ted will know Vic Flick. I don't suppose many would have liked John Prescott but he was a strong character, outspoken in his opposition to rail privatisation and other dubious policies. Oh, and he liked jazz. Was he called “two jabs” or “two Jags” ?
…..what a wonderful time of the year. Mellow fruitfulness, Red Fox on sale in Fuller's pubs and QPR just weeks away from playing at home on a Saturday afternoon (surely not…). God is in his heaven.
Inducted into Forever Rs…he's called Micky these days. One of the first players I can remember. Sadly he was a bit of a target for boo boys. OK he wasn't a world beater but had gumption. Anyone else remember him - a lifetime ago admittedly.
I've been trying to embed a few pics on the White City Estate Memories site. I've put an occasional pic on LFW using imgur. I find now imgur will only let me embed a link and not the image. ( you must have heard of the White City Estate, I'm told some football fans sing a little ditty about it).
I've finally got my VPN and was hoping to make my debut tomorrow. However, offish just saying “limited access due to contractual matters” or something. They used to list countries that were acceptable. Any help ?
Possible 35 in London. Thank Christ it wasn't yesterday. Still the season of mellow fruitfulness is just around the corner - QPR kicking off at 3pm and Red Fox on sale in Fuller's pubs. Yes, please!
I have to say the new CEO has significantly improved the prematch advice to fans. It used to be “no running onto the pitch” Now it's “supporters must not encroach onto the playing surface” “Supporters must not behave inappropriately” is good but next season it may well be “ supporters must comport themselves in an orderly and mannerly fashion in keeping with the situation in which they find themselves and not indulge in persiflage with supporters of the opposing team”.
I kid you not……I'm in the pub and three women in the corner are wearing ear bandages a la Trump. I was going to go over with clenched fist and say”fight, fight, fight” but maybe they've just had treatment for ear complaints !
For years I've been saying I'll get a VPN to watch Rs away. I've never gotten around to it but think I will this season because of optimism about the side and being precluded (ooh) from watching the midweek games because of the Sky deal. I think it was Brian that posted a ten part guide which I promptly lost. Anyone ?
I thought that was a full bodied Spanish red wine, but the squad has arrived for pre-season. No mention of personnel. One name we all know will be missing, but as far as I can tell, no word of Willock and it'll be July 2nd in 15 mins.
Generally thought to have started in the progrock era but in my collection I have two from the mid-fifties : West Coast Suite by Mel Torme which is about, well, the West Coast of the USA, and Just Strike A Match by April Ames which is an album about cigarettes ( I kid you not) . Favourite concept albums anyone ?
Since we last beat Blackburn. A fossilised fish has been found in Western Australia reckoned to be 380 million years old. Scientists say because we have two of everything we should have two of, plus the shape of our mouths, we are descended from fish. How come there are still fish about then ?
Could be the answer to our right back problem. No seriously, those of a certain age will remember him being “Minister of Floods” when we had the drought in '76. No sooner had he been appointed, it started slashing down for days on end. Hosepipe bans on the way for most of the country and I understand, steam iron bans for some. I reckon Boris would be a good Minister for Floods.
