The injury record of the 1st team squad under the guidance/management of Williams is indeed very questionable.
If we don't include the women's, development and youth squad's in the availability stats for the season I would estimate it at around 65 -70%. It seems that there is always 5 or more players unavailable
Currently Chair, Burrell, Madsen, Obikwu, Dembele and Larkeche are all injured. Poku is only now available. That is 7 players from the squad of 22.
We can include Field and Morrison as part of the 1st team squad. I haven't included Esquerdinha as he is meant to be a Development Squad player who has played a few games as cover.
QPR's home record against Swansea is poor anyway, so maybe for the best that I don't attend this one.
The only recent home win against them that I can recall was under Eustace as caretaker manager after McClaren got sacked - and I didn't attend that game either.
I agree, that it wasn't a very good transfer window that left the squad short in certain areas of the pitch.
Most of us knew there was a big issue in goalkeeper, full back positions, central midfield and centre forward.
Nourry and Co. messed up in the summer and didn't address the issues in the winter window.
Sending Field out on loan just about summed up their failure. Madsen picking up an injury was always likely given how many games he was playing and the physical conditioning of the squad by a man whose expertise is in cycling competitions.
He ay not have been good, but as you said, he scored goals inside (and from around) the 6 yard box. He didn't have a bad goals/games ratio either. Those attributes imo are good for a striker and QPR could certainly use one of those in the squad apart from Kone and Burrell.
The naming rights of Loftus Road is worth £1.2m over 3 years. I don't know how much other FL clubs get for their stadium naming rights , but £400k a year doesn't seem a lot to me.
He will be sent back at the end of the German season. What happens after that is anyone's guess, but mine is that QPR will look to get him off the books by offering him a free transfer in the hope that another club will take him.
He has been a disastrous signing and total waste of money.
I agree about the costs, but it seems Rueben is content with spending his money on the club. How else could it be explained that the likes of Nourry and Williams have such vital roles in running this club with so very little experience of football?
If Rueben was concerned surely he would approach people like Wenger, Ferguson Ancelotti etc for advice on suitable people for these jobs.
I think this was more likely. Madsen, because he was clearly a better no.6 or 8, than the 10 he was playing last season. Varane , because it was hoped he would kick on from last season and be sold this summer. Morgan, because he is being developed.
However, Field is also a sellable player and should have been given more playing time.
It wasn't a case of hindsight, but given how this season has been going, it was only a matter of how soon QPR would need Field. Varane was still out recovering when Field was loaned out.
Yeah I thought that too. It was as if he wanted to speak his mind, but fearful of losing his job. Field going out on loan was not his idea.
And when asked about the injuries and whether training had anything to do with them he replied he is the manager (and possibly wanted to add not in charge of the training methods and programmes).
